Watching TV is a very different experience to online video. You don't want interactivity when you're watching 'TV', the complete failure of interactive TV projects in the past demonstrates this.

Sometimes we want to be the passenger, not the driver. TV is a way to relax, no need to think, just let it wash over you. Change the camera angle? NO THANKS! That's what technical director's are paid to do, and they do a great job.

Mouse in hand is totally different - you're driving, you're in control, you want interactivity.

The 2 minute clips experience will not make the transition to TV, channel-centric services like WorldTV.com and Joost can.

Re: Survey Finds Few Web Video Viewers Wish To Build Bridge To TV

Welcome to the future!

Re: Survey Finds Few Web Video Viewers Wish To Build Bridge To TV

I can't imagine buying a TV without the specific intention of hooking my computer to it so I can keep watching streaming or downloaded video. If there was a way to get everything I want to watch online, I would never turn to DVD. As it is, I have stopped turning to TV altogether. You can get Rock of Love on iTunes, after all.

Re: Survey Finds Few Web Video Viewers Wish To Build Bridge To TV

IPTV is the future. The only problem is that no one seems to realize that people enjoy PASSIVE entertainment just as much as they enjoy ACTIVE entertainment, if not more. If Apple or anyone else were to build a service that offers an elegant combination of the two (if they wanted to talk to me, hell, I'd give them an idea or two) then they'd have the deal sealed.

No one wants to have to choose what they watch all the time, and everyone wants to have the opportunity to do so when they desire. That's just what it comes down to.
