I must say, Revver is definitely the preffered platform for spammers and pornography. They have an excellent affiliation program that really seems to encourage spam feeds. If you like I can provide a nice long list.

Obviously Mashable is out of touch with the core videoblogging community. The obvious proff is that blip.tv one the vloggies award in San Fran for best hosting and sharing site.

Blip.tv has features noone else has that no other sites have. The number one thing is that blip supports cross posting to YOUR own blog on whatever platform it's on, and not just in Flash, but also the original downloadable file in MP4 or whatever downloadable format you choose that is compatible with aggregators like Democracy, Fireant, and devices like the Zune, the iPod, the PSP and more. Every other video sharing site is pretty much soley focused on owning your media and keeping you locked into their platform.

The bottom line is blip.tv is not just a a social network but a service aimed at serious and independant vloggers who want to build equity in their own domain, vlog, platform not youtube or anyone else's brand. This is why pretty much all the big vlogs from Ask A Ninja, to Ze Frank, to alive in Bagdad to GETv use blip.tv. What's more these vloggers are also the most savy and likely to also experiment with a wide variety of other services as well.

Blip.tv is incredible. They have been so helpful with getting my vlog up and off the ground. Revver looks very cool and like they have their shit together, but to be honest it looks like just a better looking, better ran, more professional YouTube. Blip.tv does not put their label on anything of yours. They use the same flash player that I was using before I went with them. However all the video services out there esentially do the same thing, host video. It just all depends on your needs and what you look for in a host. I'm not taking anything away from revver, but BLIP.TV FOR LIFE!!

Crash Test Kitchen, featured in Time's Person of the Year "You" coverage, runs on Blip, too: http://www.time.com/time/ma...

On top of that, Blip's even figured out how to do automatic crossposting to MySpace, a service I've not seen elsewhere.

Overall they have a fantastic platform with a solid, powerful, and friendly user experience on top of it.

I upload to Blip as well... it's really easy to use and has some very talented people posting on it, and some super talented people doing the coding in the background. They really do cater to what people need.

Blip.tv was voted best video hosting site by the judges and public at this years vloggies. Many videobloggers use Blip.tv just a few names: Steve Garfield, Chuck Olson, Ryanne Hodson, Jay Dedman, Alive in Bagdhad, Treehugger TV, let's not make assumptions without doing research now.

Peter is right on.

Blip.tv and my videoblog started at pretty much the same time. I've always used them and they are constantly changing their service to accomodate the needs of content creators.

It's a really robust service that is still easy to use for the video newbie..but once you have an idea of how you want your videos to be shown across the internet, they have many different toolsets to cater to my needs.

If you talk to videobloggers you'll find out that most of them do use Blip. Revver is populated by a few videobloggers and a bunch of spammers as far as I can tell. Blip grew up on the videoblogging list, getting real user feedback from day 1, and their features show that - they're 100% focused on making the life of the creator easier.
