Um, why are they giving you the show for free, but you only get it for a week? I suspect this is so you have to redownload it again, and thus NBC gets more money from advertising.

    This is a great idea.

So they still don't get the podcasting thing then. Well, it leads to some more hints as to why they parted with Apple.

Love it. The OFFICE for Free! I bet their software won't let you advance past the suckmercials though.

That's definitely the catch, though you can mute your computer at least ...

This is great! I was at a conference yesterday where an NBC SVP objected that NBC was not a traditional media property (as someone had just stated at the conference). Someone snickered. Little did we know, she had something wickedly awesome up her sleeve. For more check out my post here: http://jburg.typepad.com/future/2007/09/congrat...

Is NBC VIP (in the lower left hand corner of nbc.com) what you're calling NBC Direct?

Why is this cool? It's lame. Oh thanks for letting me have a free download *for only a week*! It's not free. It's a loner download. And with commercials at that.

Stuff like the Heroes 360 experience made me think NBC had a clue about the web, but I guess not. Thanks, but no thanks.

I totally saw this coming, since they broke up with Apple.

I think its a good move for them and of course the users wing. Read my entire post on this here:
