This is a great shopping tool for busy people with a Blackberry. Unlike other sites it loads quickly and it is readable on a small screen. It takes a minute to write a vaque requst (I did it in an airport security line) and the resulting advice comes next day in an e-mail. You can even get a bargain priced product, like I did with a requested lightweight carry-on!
When you have more than a minute you can browse an interesting collection of requests and advices for other people, all grouped nicely by product categories. I learnt a lot about what I may need.
Have I forgotten to note that it is free?

i love the my shopper section, and being able to see what was suggested for everyone else's requests.

ClayValet was useful not only shopping for the parents, but also to the parentals - they enjoyed being able to write real sentences to search for stuff. No more dreaming up the correct keywords to get hits. I used the site to get a first pass on my online shopping before drilling down myself.

Bonus: any site with a nice shade of teal gets a thumbs up from me. Go Sharks!!

I've used ClayValet a few times, both before and after the site redesign. I really like the additions, which I think make the site interesting to someone even if s/he isn't looking to buy something specific at the time.

I feel that the sweet spot with the service is giving the user the "90th percentile answer," and in my (admittedly limited) experience ClayValet does that quite well. In other words, ClayValet gets me 90% of the way to finding the best match for my materialistic desires, and with almost no effort on my part.

I'm really looking forward to seeing how the service fairs after it enters the mainstream. My guess is that it will do quite well.

the new design rocks. while it was unable to find me a pair of Chuck Norris action jeans, it did suggest some cool nerf toys a while back.

Wow, what a great idea! Definitely going to apply to me when I have no idea what I'm looking at, only what I want (e.g. a new computer with a big monitor for under a grand). I tried it out and I think I actually learned a bit about computers (enough to go to Best Buy well armed at least).

I'm not claiming to be first or better, but we've been rolling on gettit.com since Christmas 2006. It's a basic shopping advice site, you can ask without registering, and have to register to answer questions and be rated for your answers.

The pluses on our site is the rating system and the fact that giving good advice can earn you money, your affiliate links are left intact in the advice. Also the system will attempt to answer your question immediately itself, with varying (improving) success by using Yahoo! Answers data.

Also the fact that the site design itself is imageless. But that was my nerdy work.

Again, ClayValet looks great and I wish them the best. But if anyone feels like asking at gettit.com as well, well, we'd love to have you.

I don't think I fit into the normal shopper profile, but I love ClayValet and have used it fairly regularly the last several months -- has been really great for shopping for nieces and nephews (since we don't have kids, we're incredibly out-of-touch with what's cool in their worlds... evidently legos don't cut it any more :-) )

Checked out the site just now, and liked the new look -- hadn't been there in last week or two, and it's definitely an improvement.

Anyway... my Mother's Day shopping was already done (ProFlowers got me first), but I've got an Aunt's birthday in a few weeks... not sure she needs another line dancing video...

Onward...

cool idea. my time is certainly worth money to me, and any help I can get with not having to trawl through page after page of product reviews appeals to me.
