Twitter through IM has always been extremely buggy for me: dropping updates, random errors, etc.

Works sometimes. I'm using it a lot to meet new people while I'm goign to events all around (was great at sxsw).

Trying to use it since yesterday to "catch" tidbits about web2expo has been... spotty at best.

Maybe it's the new architecture, it should be "eventually consistent" I guess ;-)

    They have commented on it:

This is a result of some of the caching changes we made during last night's maintenance window. While those changes have made the service more stable over all, there have been some unintended effects.

We're aware of the problem and are working through it. It may take a bit to resolve but we are on it.

I'm only able to see updates from a few of the nearly 500 people I'm following. The users with a high number of followers seem to be the one's that are filtered out.

There's a temp debugger which is: you go to any friend you can see, you unfollow them, then re-follow them, and then that makes your whole list pop in right again for a while.

Twitter seems to be working fine, except that the updates from users with larger numbers of followers are few and far between. Maybe they blocked me? ;)

There have been rumors and news of glitches and tweaks in the Twitter interface for a few weeks now. I caught one of them in a screen shot.

Our inhouse twitter client has had no downtime this weekend. So, the API was stable. The Twitter Blog this morning fills in the details for the impatient:

Just got this in my feed:

Due to some cache changes we made Friday, you may not be seeing all updates in your timeline (don't worry, they're still there!). Thank you for your patience while we fix this issue.

Yes, twitter has been very frustrating of recent. I'm off and on about taking it off my site. By the way, when I got your feed on this in google reader and I clicked the link to read your article and participate in your poll, I was returned "Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 1631547528 bytes) in /var/www/mashable.com/trunk/wp-settings.php on line 241." Oy.
