Ah, I think we missed that one. Make that 20.
  • David Berkowitz · 2 years ago
Is there some "digg this" button on this page? If it is, I'm completely missing it, and it could be a missed opp for these articles.

Almost all of mashable's post are on auto digg submission, meaning as soon as they write a post a lot of the 122K RSS readers hurl towards the digg submit page.

    First one wins.

I've been trying to get there before anybody else, but have failed so far. :(

Thanks for the tip, although in this article we've focused on products aimed at English-speaking users.
  • YIASOO · 2 years ago
Yes, sorry about that...but in my defense :-)
We have many greeks from US, Germany, Australia, and other countries using the english version. Trying to connect to their roots.

    where is Trillian Astra?
  • tbizzle · 2 years ago
Kevin Rose has one very large advantage: He is Kevin Rose. His Fanboys will get his back with the launch.
  • marc · 2 years ago
I don't see where this is going, im never going to use a DIGG messenger in my life.
  • Nick · 2 years ago
I agree with tbizzle...I haven't heard of more than 2/3rds of the startups listed above and Rose has digg that he can use to leverage his client if needed. I for one would LOVE to see real-time flame sessions in the digg comments ;)

I would like to see a combination of GeeSee, Meebo & Itzle. That would rule.

If you're going to place Yahoo's on there you might as well put MSN Web Messenger as well which has been around forever now.

And these 20 are the only ones that are already available, with the announcement of Kevin Rose's project I would imagine a plethora of new services will be launched sooner than expected.

Gabbly is really easy to use, archives conversations by RSS and lets you turn off mssgs from a given user with one click. I love it. I wish it let you turn off sound as default and supported OpenID.

Pete, deciding to bring on Stan was a major coup, btw.

    Geez. Crowded space.
  • Kevin Burton · 2 years ago
    Well THAT's Digg bait :)
  • Alex · 2 years ago
I use Skype, yahoo messenger, and AIM. I know they aren't startups, but Kevin will have to beat the old players too.
  • ash · 2 years ago
    what about msn??
  • kuban · 2 years ago
    what about meetro?
  • John · 2 years ago
Userplane? Weren't they acquired by AOL...

What was the criteria for this list? Some of these services are outdated and barely even alive.

Stan needs to spend a little more time researching before he publishes a list like this.

    Don't forget about buddystumbler.com as well. ;)

Another Web2.0 chat tool is weblin. You use it to chat with animated avatars. All websites are chat rooms where you can decide to appear visible.

Do you really think Iminent could be compared with Meebo Rooms (or also PaltalkScene)? I've tried it, and found it pretty cool. Someone who tried Imiment too, could give some impressions? Going to be choked by the the bigger?
