An excellent overview, Paul. It actually made me follow the link to E.Factor. :) It's true that the design is old-fashioned and the structure overall poor, but I think for entrepreneurs these are unimportant details. I created a profile and I am not very excited about what I found there. For instance the presence of the graffiti wall reminds me too much of Facebook's fun wall. I find it pointless. Another negative aspect... the "lounge" is already full of spam. But considering that this is still a startup, I think it has good chances of success. They just need the right guidance.

I spend 25 minutes looking the join button on E. Factor then gave up.
When I click on any of the offers I am redirected to the home page instead of going to the page I selected. Perhaps you have to login to access the pages but there is no error message that says so and no way to join?
E Factor is not a user friendly site.

I believe that when you go to efactor.com, the sign-up is right there on the landing page, with a big star that says 'join now' and a red button that says 'submit' which you can click once you enter your basic info.
Good luck in getting yourself 'e factored'! I like the site so far but feel that it won't really be as effective as it can be until they fully flesh out the features and functionality. From what I hear, there are a lot of changes that will be happening in the July 1st roll-out so I'm looking forward to that.
One of the biggest challenges in Finance, especially entrepreneurial Finance, is creating market transparency and liquidity. This site is certainly a step in that direction, so I have high hopes for its future!

I have to correct what I said about the lounge, now that I spent more time on efactor it's pretty clear for me that the entries I referred at were some announcements of events (bold big text, long threads, many links - visually reminding of the MLM sites) and entries more fit for the blog part of the community, where they were actually promptly moved by the moderators. So... no spam there, merely some confusing content at the first sight. :) I actually enjoy efactor more and more - Marion's been very friendly and helpful so far.

I have been a member from the begin and really appreciate this site. I am using it together with aSW, LinkedIn & Plaxo. It has a quality network and is really there for entrepreneurs! They also organize amazing (real-life) events.

I think that the idea of efactor.com is realy great. Helping entrepeneurs accross the world. Members can support eachother with contacts, knowledge and business opportunities. Look and feel of efactor.com can be improved but if you take some time you will see the benefits. Next to this very innovative features to communicate are already in place. Keep up the good work and positive drive behind efactor.com.

Fantastic idea to bring entrepreneurs together in the fabulous network site EFACTOR. Efactor is not only a web (virtual) social network, but also a physical network creating the opportunity to meet entrepreneurs in real life. I enjoyed the last event "WEB 2.0 and beyond" organised by factor in Eindhoven, The Netherlands.

I think the review is a good one and the comments fair. Knowing that this is an early stage site, I've been able to work around the areas for improvement and extract value. Quite honestly, when it comes to networking sites I find myself less interested in features, functions and look-and-feel than I am by the sense of "community" that the site establishes. This is one of the few communities that I've joined that I would say feels valuable. I'm looking forward to how the site evolves and to how the community grows.

I was infuriated at a recent E.factor event in Chicago in which a "forum" was dominated by one of the organizers who took up all the time making a sales pitch for his own company. It was irritaing, much like a time share lecture and was furhter demeaned by his use of dubious staistics as scare tactics(9 out of 10 businesses fail). Pitching your own $59 a month business had no place in what was supposed to be an open ended forum. I suggest that anyone looking for a scam free networking event avoid E.factor
