Cynthia Potter as a commentator SUCKS big time. she doesnt know a THING about diving. she will tear apart a dive and the diver ends up getting several 10.0s. she praises other dives and says they will be a 9.0 but the judges give 7.5 or 8.0. she is an absolutel airhead and an idiot when it comes to commentating on diving.

Yea, for instance they show track and field events on tape delay. I just inadvertently noticed today that Tyson Gay didn't qualify for the Men's 100 meter final even though they won't show it live. Stuff like that is annoying but I guess that happens with the time difference.

NBC's coverage of the Olympics is horrendous! I quit watching it because there are more commercials and small talk (leke Costas interview with the Idiot in Chief) than sports action. Good thing that the British Premier League is back on as of today on Fox Soccer Channel.

I think, that especially in prime time, despite the time diference, the very least that NBC could do would be to show events live.

I have just heard the swimming live over the telephone while speaking with relatives in Australia, and NBC didn't even cross once to the pool. I won't mention the result of course, but when they build up high profile athletes and events and then cannot even manage to broadcast live - well, I just don't understand it. Even at this minute, they are building up to cross to the pool to watch Phelps compete live in about 10 minutes time. Do they think the entire TV audience is gullible enough to actually think it is happening in real time?

One other thing, they created 2 specialty channels on Dish HD only. So people who just have Dish Network without HD do not get the basketball/soccer specialty channels, which is bullcrap if you ask me. I don't know if this is NBC's idea or DISH's idea but I think that's pathetic that they did that.

Personally, it doesn't matter too much to me whether I see it live or not b/c I understand the time difference. I just want to see more variety of sports throughout the day. Who cares about tennis or badminton or table tennis or Greco Roman Wrestling? They should put that stuff on USA at the 1-8AM slot and put the more popular and liked sports on the 8-4AM MSNBC slot.

I think that it sucks that I can't see more basketball or men's soccer games or indoor volleyball games during the day cause they show them in the middle of the night.

Why don't they show the less popular sports(tennis, water polo, badminton, table tennis), in the very early morning that and show the more popular sports during the day like basketball, baseball, soccer, and indoor volleyball.

I've only seen the USA Men's basketball games+ the 1 other men's basketball game. I only saw 1 of the 3 USA Men's soccer games and haven't seen a soccer game past 9AM CST on the weekdays. I haven't seen one single USA Men's Indoor Volleyball yet I've seen 2 Brazilian matches lol.

They need to show the more popular sports at times when more people will watch. They need variety on their primetime telecasts too. The same shit every night. I love watching beach volleyball but geez, show something else too.

Can we please get a new commentator for Olympic Diving!!!! I finally had to turn the volume down because of "HER"!! As an NCAA Diving All-American I was looking forward to watching the diving events. Not anymore or at the very least with no sound due to Potter. Is it really that hard to comment on the diving? She continues to pick apart every little detail of every dive!! She has taken all the enjoyment out of watching it with her "Arm-Chair" Critical Analysis over every little fault of every dive for every competitor. NBC- Take her off the air!! Thanks for letting me vent.

It amazes me that the announcers can't realize the difference in the Chinese training machines that they take from their parents at 3 yrs of age and only allow them to see their parents one day a year and train constantly and the Americans who go to school, have a family life, friends, etc and train at their own expense to be there. What an amazing accomplishment for them----just to be there. Silver is fantastic. They are normal girls, not little robots who only know how to train. I am so sick of them fawning over the Chinese.

Continuely NBC you blow it. We already know before your terrible coverage that Michael Phelps has won the record breaking gold and yet you still precede 2 1/2 hours before you show us his race. Then instead of embracing the women gymnastics for winning silver, you want the whole USA to be disappointed that they didn't not win gold. Shame on you NBC. Hopefully in 4 years some other network will have the Olympics and learn from your horrible mistakes.

I watched the entire opening ceremonies live from CCTV, and enjoyed every second. Here in Oregon, the webcast was 4am to 9am last Friday.

I would dearly love to see live broadcasts of all events, doesn't matter what time they show. NBC can rebroadcast the big events during primetime on one of the 4 channels they are using.

Finally, I just want to add, regarding the women's gymnastic team finals, shame on the NBC ommentators for all sounding so crushed and somber because our girls took Silver. Silver! amazing, a cause for celebration, what an achievement, and Alicia Sacramone helped get us there. To be so downcast, when the olympics have never been more glorious, is whack. The Chinese womens team was a joy to watch as well.

Take it or leave it. There's really nothing new as far as the host country's portrayal as positive. It is in the Olympic spirit after all. NBC has pointed to certain negatives in Chinese policies and political practices but at the end of the day they are there to do one thing and that's to report the SPORTING news, not politics. So get over it or watch political news, they don't want trouble. As far as sports coverage goes NBC is dealing with a twelve hour time difference and is trying to make available the most popular sports to the largest amount of television viewers. Good job NBC.

As an everyday user of NBC, living in Canada, I know that NBC is committed to pleasing their Canadian customers as well as their US customers. In all of their news broadcasts, correspondants speak of Canadians as if we are a part of US. I am proud to be a neighbour and feel the part by the way they deliver their news. I am very disappointed, to say the least, to find out that at NBCOlympics.com would not allow access to any Olympic videos to Canadians. It was reported that there was technical interferrence that would not allow it. I believe that NBC accepted a full Olympic coverage with this in their contract. Maybe someone didn't catch it when reading the contract. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I agree. The NBC prologue. OMG. How crass and derivative can you get? The penultimate of cheesy Hollywood. The script was embarrassing. Dismally tedious. I guess you were trying to compare China with the athletes, as if the country itself is on trial. Interesting concept. So shamefully executed. Could the script be anymore over the top? As is the music? Are we still in the 90's here? are we never going to progress our aesthetic?
Was this sculpted for other countries? Did other countries see the prologue we did? or is this just some American-aimed midwest mentality grandma will buy this crap approach.
Wouldn't it be great if NBC tried to make a difference? Take the amazing composers and visual approaches and truly clever writers that are available and, hey!, apply them to the greatest show on earth?
Instead? we get Barnum and Bailey's with some global drama spin -- the world as America's soap opera. Ugh.

I couldn't stand listening to the idiot announcers fawning over China like it was some kind of normal country. We didn't watch. Since they banned some of our athletes, the Pres and our athletes should have banned the opeing ceremony. A medal is worth more than lives.

UK users have a lot better deal with the Olympics being available through the BBC website.

The restrictions that NBC are imposing are quite harsh. Vista only.

It's really a convenience thing. What good would it do to disrupt viewing on the Web to maintain a strong TV viewership. The two simply don't translate in my view. It'd be more beneficial for NBC to just let the data flow uninterrupted.

Glitches are bound to occur. They always do with these sorts of things. Especially when a massive amount of attention is given to them. But NBC might actually deliver the goods in August. We'll see.
