Jack, I think you're right about the potential of companies like Zannel, but unlike the internet, in mobile the cost of data traffic always seems to be pushed to end users, which makes it more difficult for such services to reach high volumes. This could change of course, but until then perhaps sideloading is part of the answer.

I think Free The Fan and Zannel have big potential personally. Sports is big in Europe, as are camera phones. Think about it. In Europe people swap videos from their phones using Bluetooth, now they can use the net instead. Far better distribution model.

The Internet is not just US specific, and should be kept in mind when discussing social media, IMHO.
