This is really good. For like the last 5 6 months I have told so many people to not just out there password on fake myspace login pages. But they still do it and its still a big problem. So I am happy they are doing this. And if you think people that are like 16 don't give out there password. Think again b/c they do all the time.

Now if they implemented OpenID and oAuth, perhaps this wouldn't be needed?

I had to laugh when I read: "It’s also mildly amusing that the warning message is worded for 12 year olds."
Well, the thing is, Myspace is just that, for kids. It is basically a dating site for teens and it is full of teen drama. Many like to add people to their network just for the sake of adding people and pretending to have lots of friends. There is no way that one single person knows 1500 people. It is basically a popularity contest. People like to show off how many people they know, and it's the online equivalent of being one of the cool kids. Although MySpace is fine for kids, it's not for serious adults. Typical "intelligent" conversations you will see:

"WTF! Did you see the size of her butt?"
    "He is so cute!"
"OMG! I saw this cute outfit!"
"I hate my mom. She wont let me drink, smoke or have sex!"

As for me, I don't like such kind of alerts. They are too annoying and useless.

I would say that I dont mind an extra-alert if that can help people to avoid scam and to keep their accounts safe. Not all users are highly computer-intelligent , so its better to be safe then sorry.

Ted Koppel once said that he talks at a 13-year old level to his audience… in order to communicate effectively.
