Question everyone: Why do carriers have to win an auction to get access to spectrums? Why does the government control it? What's the deal here? Can't anyone just setup the equipment to use those frequencies? Or does the government already control those frequencies with their own equipment, and the idea is that companies like Verizon, etc would lease the use of it from them? I thought the idea is that by selling it to a for-profit company, they would build everything out in order to use the frequency? If that's the case, why don't they just start using it? Does the government have a super frequency blocker or something or are they simply saying "that we are in charge of everything and you need our legal permission to do what you could otherwise do without us" ???

Enlighten me on this subject matter someone, please!

I'm hard-pressed to understand what the resistance to this could be. Aside from a few monopolists wanting to keep their customers, this can only make the country more connected, competitive and empowered.

Oh, and the word is spelled "teat" not "teet." Unless we're using Web 2.0 spelling ;)
