Tsk tsk tsk... Only hippies? stop the discrimination! Plus, don't forget about Blog Day @ the end of the month:

"BlogDay was created with the belief that bloggers should have one day dedicated to getting to know other bloggers from other countries and areas of interest. On that day Bloggers will recommend other blogs to their blog visitors."

Oddly reminiscent of that South Park episode where the hippies congregate for a music festival to unite and save the environment... ;)

I've got no problem with an Action Day, in fact, I'll probably blog about it too on that day. But I do hope it results in real action - You know, something as simple as changing the lightbulbs you use most in the house to energy saving ones. Simple, even a lazy blogger like me can do that!

I read Mashable every day. I, and many others like me, trust Mashable to be a credible voice on the internet. It was very disappointing to find Mr.Cashmore sarcastic response to something that nearly 3000 bloggers have personally endorsed. It's obvious that there is a point that was missed here. It's not about lobbying politicians. It's about one person at a time deciding to change one habit at a time. But if one person reads this post and decides that Blog Action Day is a joke, then Mr.Cashmore has dealt a blow to the entire environmental cause, and even to the earth herself. Please, Mr.Cashmore, be more conscious of Mashable's credibility and reach when you choose to strike out at something that is a very personal cause to so many people.

It's a great idea, and with lots of bloggers and many influential ones involved, it will probably spark a lot of debate. I don't think one day is enough, but if it gets people talking then it does make a differece...
