I think it's early days. Current marketing models on social networks are evolving fast.

As for trying to combine socializing and shopping - you just have to ask your wife or girlfriend how well these mix.

However, I think in the long run, the Facebook Ad Network will be very successful, just like its News-Feed feature. Remember when FB first introduced its News-Feed feature, many users were totally against it, but look at it now--it's one of most popular features in FB, and most of its rivals have since copied the feature.

I think what FB lacks right now for its new Ad Network is some privacy control fucntions, just like when it first introduced the News-Feed feature...
