Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 2007/11/09/90-antivirus-tools/

The list is really impressive, I would only like to add that I tried to protect my PC against keyloggers effectively and tested many of the programs on the list and among those not presented here. The software which is not listed here appeared to be most reliable (PrivacyKeyboard), I chose it, I beleive that it's more efficient to have a set of specialized tools than the one that claims to be universal but performing many of the functions poorly.

rav was acquired by microsoft in 2003 and since then there was no new version.
in the desktop version there are other good av products such as bitdefender and many others that aren't listed. instead you have listed that spaceship-like scanner Anti-Virus&Trojan.
maybe you should make a revision for this list. :p

    Hi Feedle,

Yeh RAV was acquired by M/S however the site listing of product is still done with the same name.

As far as Bitdefender is concerned its there in the list :)

My favorite one out of the list that I have used often is Spybot Search & Destroy. Works great.

    Everyone else, what's your favorite?

Removing malware is always a tricky job to me. Reputed malware scanners failed many times. I normally use 'semi manual' process with combofix and hijackthis. But If you didnt know exactly what you are doing result will be catastrophic.

I think ComboFix is the greatest removal utility known to man. Alongside SUPER Antispyware and Malwarebytes Antimalware you cannot go wrong. Forget about popular Ad-Aware and Spybot, these tools will remove and clean anything.
