When a site has already done a lot of the work it's less important and more difficult. People also come up with inventive solutions for the shortcomings i.e. hashtags/@tags to add tagging and threading like funcionality.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;And Twitter also got a critical mass in terms of integration with other services. So you can leave photo uploading to sites that specialize in and are good at that, for example. So from that perspective Twitter is a competitor to &lt;a href="http://Streem.us" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="Streem.us"&gt;Streem.us&lt;/a&gt; and Tumblr.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Sites like &lt;a href="http://Streem.us" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="Streem.us"&gt;Streem.us&lt;/a&gt; are just creating isolated  places for me to have yet another content store and network.
