The Xbox and Xbox 360 is "everywhere" and "beating the snot out of the PS3"?

    Are you stupid?

The Xbox BOMBED last generation. The 360 was out for TWO YEARS with NO COMPETITION before the cheap Wii and expensive PS3 came out. The PS3 is selling the same about of consoles that the 360 did, and the PS3 is expensive, had to survive all the Microsoft FUD, and had competition on BOTH SIDES.

I believe you're just stupid. Your article lost credibility. At least know wtf you're talking about when before you type trash like this.

Not sure whether to complement you or correct you. On the one hand, you've made an impression on me and are for sure in the running for the Troll contest.

On the other hand, you're wrong.

So Zune is #1 at one (albeit big) online retailer. How about looking at #2, #3, #4, #5, #9, #10, #13-#17, #19, #22 on that same list?

And how about the UK bestsellers?

Easy to make arguments when cherry picking data. That's what idiots who believe in ESP do, as well. Let's take limited data points and pretend they explain the whole picture.

And while the Xbox and Xbox 360 might be doing fine in America, the former tanked in Japan and the 360 isn't doing that well, either. And while you may want to deny it, Japan is where the console wars are fought.

I should have figured all the various platform fan-boys would come out of the woodwork on this one.

My point is, what limited data there is on the new Zune is, to date, shows that it isn't failing. Or perhaps more importantly, doesn't prove that it is failing..

The thing came out a few weeks ago. Prime shopping time of the year is right now. A bit pre-mature to call it a failure. All I'm trying to do show a littler reason in this all out lynch mob of the Zune. And, in case you didn't read the article I linked and responded to, my "cherry picked facts" are more than what was used in the other article or any of the comments on the SlashDot forum.

Did you even read my article, VJM?

Japan is where console wars are fought? Japan's a fading console market as handhelds take over. Check some hardware or software sales for this generation, they're abysmal.

Like I mentioned on my site last night, the author of this slashdotted article has apparently never even touched a Zune. How is he writing about Zune?

"There are some things in this article that are true, but it’s full of inaccuracies. So many that I am going to let you just head over to give them traffic for a job poorly done. Despite running a Zune centric site and having a bias towards Zune, I at least can point out the good in Apple products. Others seem to have a problem with that and end up making false statements…"

I guess his job poorly done was so bad that he got dotted and now mashed. :)

I'm not sure what set of Amazon stats you were viewing (and granted, they are updated hourly), but at the moment, #1, #3, #4, and #5 in Amazon's Top 10 MP3 players are all iPod models. The brown 30GB Zune is currently at #2, but that model is enjoying a fairly significant discount (20%) off retail.

I agree that the Zune (the 2nd gen version, at least) isn't the complete disaster that some folks might paint it. It's certainly an improvement over their first gen model, and is generating some buzz. But it's not going to be knocking the iPod off its perch anytime soon.

I agree Tom. It won't be unseating Apple soon and may never do it, but the Zunes are not the crappy device that this ---explicitive--- that wrote the article “Why the Microsoft Zune is Still Failing.” is attempting to portray.

This guy got what he wanted, traffic for being a moron.

I've gotta say, I don't really understand why you'd bother to rebut something from Roughly Drafted (an extremely pro-Apple biased site), or a friggin' Slashdot comment thread of all places.
