    It's time to bypass those greedy middlemen;
    For musicians that wanna host their own music OpenTape is a good choice:
    http://opentape.fm
    For users, this is a good iTune-like service, in case Apple decides to shut iTune done:

    I can not believe the music industry is still causing us to have to police them in an age where we should already have made vast inroads on unique and varied electronic music distribution. It stinks. Giving this one a stumble and a Digg and a Mixx - we need to lobby.... SOMEONE... to fight this.

    Fans aren't being shafted. We're voting with our bittorrent clients...
    The music industry realizes that and what we're seeing is their death throes, trying to milk whatever's still left of their market.

    Yeah now they RIAA has gotten the ISP's Involved. The connection at my job was shut down due to someone using bit torrent on our open network....how are we supposed to monitor what people do with an open wi-fi connection?>??

    Artists know they are being screwed but if they want credibility and visibility they need to be where the big dogs are. Unfortunately that means iTunes.

    For forward thinking indie musicians, they should realize that they can give their tunes away for free, build website traffic (not to their Myspace page), find sponsors and advertisers and hit the road. That's what we teach at least!
