It's fantastic if only open a one such software and can find my friends in MSN or Yahoo
BTW:In China, many users also like QQ, and not MSN and Yahoo

I wonder if they'll add support for Twitter, Pownce or Jaiku.

Can someone please explain where I can get the info that Instantbird has anything to do with Mozilla?? Nothing on their site, let me tell you in advance!

Or are they Mozilla and Pidgin??

Please clarify on why is anybody calling this a Mozilla product, although I don't see it anywhere in the Mozilla website... http://www.mozilla.org/projects/

    Thank you

Great question, I'm trying to find the link directly to Mozilla as well on their site. As of now, there doesn't seem to be any. However, They are using Mozilla's XML User Interface Language (XUL), which is the most direct connection I can find.

The domain is registered to someone in France:

    http://www.whois-search.com/whois/www.instantbi...

    Not under the Mozilla name:

"the adventurous user can strike out and attempt to compile a copy of their own"

This is completely wrong. Adventurous *developers* can attempt to compile it. Users only need to downloads the prebuilt versions.

"two hours it can take to compile on Ubuntu"

The build time on Ubuntu is about an hour, not 2.

Important note: this project uses Mozilla technology, it is *not* a Mozilla project.

Any sign of Voice and Video integration? Because IM is not just chat any more.

Skype is losing out here. But it's architecture makes integration in this sort of project hard.

As I mentioned above, Instabird (InstantBird?) is using Mozilla's XML User Interface Language (XUL), this means that given several weeks if some outside developers take a notice to Instabird, we can see some exctiting "Add-ons" for the project. Also, don't forget this is release .1, simplistic and lacking almost any functionality besides multi-IM integration. Give it time and I think we can see some great projects coming, including twitter, voice and video integration and really any web site with an API has a potential to be integrated.
