That's how they used to do it, you can only use the old refresh trick 200 times per ip though. They are using a combination of programs to do this, I know, I have them. Look at all the Hotforwords videos, she does the old view fraud trick too. Look at how many views some of her videos and yet the ratings and comment number are out of whack with how many views she has. Say anything about it though and people will just tell you you're jealous of her. She's the biggest fraud view culprit on youtube.

Yeah not mention auto-refreshing programs are against YouTube's TOS policy. Under part 3, section C is states "You agree not to use or launch any automated system, including without limitation, "robots," "spiders," "offline readers," etc., that accesses the Website in a manner that sends more request messages to the YouTube servers in a given period of time than a human can reasonably produce in the same period by using a convention on-line web browser." Simply put - It's not humanly possible to refresh a page 10 times in 1 second.

Wow, that's really incredible. You'd think that YouTube would have an IP/Cookie check that wouldn't re-count pageviews for videos. Seems like it would be a pretty easy fix.

Why would YouTube do anything to reduce it's viewhit ratios? That's money in their pocket.
They've even gone so far as to ban users who constantly complain about it.
If, in some strange circumstance, YouTube LOST revenue from fake hits, they'd have taken care of it by the first month when they became aware of assorted youtube "celebrities" putting friends up to hitting the refresh button like crack monkeys.
YouTube only pays it's "celebrities" five dollars per thousand hits. They aren't cheating these people of revenue. They're averaging down from the fack hits they know their "celebrities" get.
It's just like back in the dot.com era. People don't know shit about the technology, and are easily bullshitted by those who do. Like YouTube.

Yeah, Ive been waiting for someone to write about this. Its retarded that Youtube hasnt atleast mentioned their aknowledgement of the issue. I find it very annoying cause theres nothiing good on Youtube anymore. The whole page is flooded with SMD videos and its driving people up the wall. Even when you click on one, the original video is Right THERE in the related videos section. GERRR... i wish Youtube would Ban the users, start using IP tracking for views in order to correct the problem (Like set a limit to how many views are recorded per account on a particular video). PLUS, every SMD video is in violation of Copyright infringement anyway. The problem is people dont claim those rights and so youtube does nothing to fix it. Im pretty sure SMD doesnt ask each individual poster for permission to download and brand peoples videos. Something should be done cause this is the fall of YouTube if this keeps up.

The worst thing of all is that sometimes people haven't seen these videos, so they actually do want to watch them. But lately, probably due to criticism, SMD has started disabling comments in their stolen YouTube videos.

There's a big difference between posting videos without the consent of the author and attaching branding to a video that isn't yours.

I've noticed this issue a few days ago, and said to myself that this couldn't be right, and why isn't YouTube doing something about it.

Another disturbing issue is that SuperMovie (and many many others) are selling a program, very similar to e-mule (haven't tried it myslef, but so I've heard) for a high price, and giving the users that were fooled into purchasing it, the impression that it's legal, and maybe even that YouTube is all up fo it.

Thanks for digging into this issue, and I hope YouTube will fix this soon, as it ruins MiniBoxs.com's front page...
