A few months ago I seen some ads on Newsvine(.com) and have recently seen the same ad campaign running on SourceForge(.net):

Screenshot - http://bayimg.com/oAlGpAaBP

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something? And, what is cool, they have localized versions of their ad in various languages. At least I can witness the Bulgarian version running on several AdSense - running Bulgarian sites.

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something? Well, I am sure any product they come out with as a 3rd or 4th, they'd have to use a lot of marketing push. A pull may not be enough :)

And lets put it this way: they are just using cross-sell for their products.

Having said the above, Chrome has perhaps seen the most aggressive push by Google ever. Right from Ads across AdWord and perhaps other media, to fixed links in Orkut, Blogger and what not!

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something? Like, "to unlock a special LinkedIn feature, you first need to download Chrome."

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something? Pretty funny stuff. I'm not sure why they are pushing it so hard. I have tried chrome and it seems like its just not ready for the masses. Fast? YES Tons of options? No

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something? I was very surprised to see Chrome a chrome ad on YouTube last night as well. I guess it's not really something new. Just overlooked mostly.

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something? I guess the odd thing is that it isn't like the New York Times buying a billboard to promote their newspaper - more like if the New York Times bought an ad in the Wall Street Journal to promote their newspaper.

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something? So, like most of the rest of the business world they must actually buy advertising to promote products. Of course, you'd think they'd do most of that on their own site given its size, but I guess there the limitions when ads on Google can only be targeted by page content--hung by their own petard... Actually, this is somewhat entertaining...

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something? I use www.TabUp.com for my start page which is heavy on the use of Java. I've run in to layering problems on TabUp and other sites that utilize MS Silverlight. I also have problems with some of Google's own web applications when run in Chrome. Oh, forget using MS Webmail with Chrome. Having said all this, I see great potential for Chrome and compared to IE ... actually no comparison.

Re: Google Actually Advertising Something?
