If I download Skype on my Mini Netbook and am traveling in Europe, can I call anywhere in the world, free to another Skype customer, and pay charges to landlines and cell phones? How much is a call from my computer (in France) to a landline in France? A cellphone in France? I'm new at this.

i get a problem, and i buy the skype world unlimited service, and i sometimes, need to go to some Asian countries, and i found that the price in different region is different, and in US, the world unlimited is only $9.95 per month, but in any other countries, the price of world unlimited is $12.95 per month, i don't know it is different, so, if i get it in US, can i use my skype world unlimited in any other countries when i do the business in any other countries, i am waiting for the answer, thank you!

The US plan does not give you 3 free phone numbers anywehre in the world like the same plan does for other regions....what i am still to work out is how does Skype know which region you are in? The service is supposed to work for you as you travel the world with your laptop....can in other words what is stopping US people choosing the "rest of the world" plans?

The introduction of these new call plans from Skype should prove beneficial for the internet telephony / VoIP sector generally. Anything that helps to bring internet telephone calling further into the mainstream is very welcome.

May we mention that there are other options in the market that allow you to make unlimited calls for a flat rate such as Vonage. There are some significant differences between the services that Vonage and Skype provide that should be taken into consideration by anyone looking to make internet calls.

The unlimited landline calls will be pretty useful for me. Another reason to use it.
It might be cheaper with other VoIP clients, but it's not like the quality and reliability that you can have only with Skype

Vikrant> the cost varies depending on the region you choose on the site. To be precise - it's cheaper for the US. 'Why' is the question. I would understand if it would differ in 'local' or 'country' tariff (based on local telecom charges), but the 'world' should be same for all. The only guess I can make is that the taxes could be different. But then - why are prices the same for every other region - just for US are cheaper. Obviously the rest of the world is just wealthier. Are we not?

$9.95 per month is way too expensive. For about the same price one cat get 300 free minutes per week for 4 months from most of the VOIP programs. My impression is that Skype is going down big time
