The core app, the movable type blogging software, is way behind Word Press when it comes to easily launching high quality blogs. This neglect has degraded them in the eyes of many decision makers...

SixApart seems to be ready for sale !! What about competition between VOX and all the brand that use Typepad ; it could be difficult to sell typepad services in b2b (see some sample in http://www.loiclemeur.com/english/2005/07/kataw... ) and to propose directly services like VOX ...

is any of their offerings actually turning a profit? LiveJournal seems like the one they are neglecting the most and the one which is most unlikely to ever be profitable. In Italy, the LJ homepage is half in English and half in poor Italian. So... why launch Vox? is it all that different from LJ? why should it attract the eyeball ad money LJ is not attracting? And what happened to 'Cosmos', btw? Why not just focus on the real deal, i.e. the hosted version of MT?

It's probably worth mentioning that in the past few weeks, in addition to opening up Vox a bit, we've released a new beta of Movable Type 3.3, added a number of new features to TypePad including the first integration with Feedburner of any blogging service, and have rolled out a number of improvements to LiveJournal.

Massimo, I think there's a few inaccuracies in your statement, but I think your one question is intended to be about "Project Comet"; That was our codename for the service that's now known as Vox. And our goal has always been to have a solid business behind everything we do, that hasn't changed.

    Anil,

Yeah, good call. It was nice to see the Feedburner announcement today.

What is going on with Vox and SixApart? I have heard recently that they are not responding to customer and internet complaints about violations by their users. Do they not have the manpower or the desire to do so? True deterioration is when they cannot meet the needs of the internet at large, not just their own users.
