I can read, and I know this is a social networking news site (see, I can be insulting without shouting), but if you think that Facebook and MySpace are the only 2 things to talk about, I'd like to welcome you online, because you're obviously new here.

There are literally hundreds of social networking sites - and not half of them have even been mentioned by name on this site. I'm not saying you have to treat all sites equally by any means - but when every other article is about - even the number 1 site (as in if there were no controversy) - it's a bit lopsided in its coverage. I see 5 other tabs up there (6 if you count "all") seems to me that those other "Big names" might be doing something newsworthy, too.

And for someone involved in *ahem* "500 Startups" - I would think you would be in favor of throwing some press to the little guy. But hey, since *you* will never be covered here, why should any of your competitors, right?

Re: Did Facebook Lie About Beacon to Gain Advertisers?

"@davemc500hats"

You might want to refocus your glasses on the little link that says "Reply to this comment". It saves you from having to try to explain to the person you are talking to.

As far as my relationship to PayPerPost, I've gone in depth explaining why I believe that giving my honest opinions on good and services is a better way (read more honest) to monetize my blog than through gaudy banner ads (like this site has). I also think it's funny that a person who is involved in "500 startups" (cough) would be against a blogger trying to monetize their blog, (via a startup, I might add). But, hey, if disclosing (on every page of my blog) that I get paid to review things (and don't allow the payment to sway my opinion, btw) makes me a shill, I guess anyone who has received an evaluation unit would be as much of a shill as I am. There have been reviews that I have taken were I literally said that this site sucks, don't use it, avoid it. You should only go to the site to see what it looks like so you won't stumble on it later and forget that it's a bad site.

But hey, thanks for playing, and best of luck getting that $100 gift card for leaving a comment on a website, shill.

Re: Did Facebook Lie About Beacon to Gain Advertisers?

"the company’s integrity is being called into question... including that served up by partner Microsoft"

LOL... This contest is really working your reverse-psychology fishing for compliments isn't it.

Hey, here's an idea, Mashable. How about an article or two about Facebook? I really want to learn more about this Facebook thing. I don't know why you don't write about Facebook. I really can't find any news about Facebook. I don't know if you've heard about Facebook, but I think it might have something to do with the social web, so you might want to check it out. It's called Facebook - like Face, and then Book, but one word - Facebook. I really don't think there are any other social web sites out there other than Facebook, so you should really do an article about Facebook. Mmmm'K?

kthnxbai (see what I did there? It's saying the opposite of what I mean. Kind of like saying "Troll me!" when you really want people to kiss your butt. Then I ended with a lame Interwebz meme, so maybe you could understand at least one part of my post, since most of it sailed right over your heads.)

Re: Did Facebook Lie About Beacon to Gain Advertisers?

Facebook will continue to lose face. They simply don't get this thing called "privacy". They don't get privacy like google does not get a thing called "social networking".

Re: Did Facebook Lie About Beacon to Gain Advertisers?

ack, good catches, I always mess up "misled"

Re: Did Facebook Lie About Beacon to Gain Advertisers?

PS that was just me trolling, don't take it personal ;-)

Re: Did Facebook Lie About Beacon to Gain Advertisers?

Facebook doesn't suck as much as this post.
