Dodgeball did the same thing in a handful of cities in the U.S., but Google acquired them a few years ago and that was the last we heard about it.

Google has been sitting on Dodgeball waiting for the right time to use the service. Their relatively recent purchase of Jaiku.com is the perfect way to re-introduce Dodgeball.

Look for this service coming soon for Jaiku users. I'm still partial to Twitter.

Cheers,
Dave

Re: Your Local Pubs are Social Networks

needs a little more work but this is an interesting idea

Re: Your Local Pubs are Social Networks

The back and forth between the physical world and the extensible space of the web is fascinating to me right now. I want to be able to walk into a bar I've never visited, and find a 2D bar code somewhere that links me to people's thoughts on the bar.

This is certainly another way to do it, I guess.

Interesting how the two things connect.

Re: Your Local Pubs are Social Networks

Is Troll Week still happening?

If I hear/read one more person use the expression "reach out" when they mean talk to or communicate with another person, I'll reach through my screen and throttle them.

On a slightly more related note, something similar to this has been around for ages via bluetooth. I remember 3 or 4 years ago having 15 minutes of fun in a pub stalking other bluetooth enabled phone users.

Re: Your Local Pubs are Social Networks

Man that was terribly spelled.
