Publicly Traded MedStrong International Corporation Announces Plans to Launch an Online Social Networking Community
Wednesday January 3, 10:49 am ET

DELRAY BEACH, Fla., Jan. 3 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Publicly traded MedStrong International (OTC Bulletin Board: MDSI; MDSIW) announces plans to launch an online social networking community with the adoption of a Web 2.0 business platform.
The term Web 2.0 refers to the advancement of the Internet from a collection of individual websites to fully-integrated computing platforms serving web applications to end users. In the past few years, Web 2.0 has evolved the worldwide web from disparate information silos into more interactive, user-friendly and often user-generated content.

Wikipedia (http://wikipedia.org) defines Web 2.0 as "a social phenomenon embracing an approach to generating and distributing Web content itself, characterized by open communication, decentralization of authority, freedom to share and re-use, and the market as a conversation." Social community websites, such as myspace.com, Facebook.com and YouTube.com are among the most popular Web 2.0 companies.

Online social networks enable people to instantly connect with other people worldwide and share thoughts, photographs, music and videos. Users can create their own personal profiles to communicate opinions, and share hobbies, interests and links to other sites or people and much more.

"With this move, MedStrong International solidifies its commitment and focus on creating a vibrant and innovative new enterprise in online social networking," said newly appointed MedStrong President and Chairman Gary Schultheis. "By our launch, I believe we will be one of the first publicly traded and possibly the only pure play online social network in North America."

MedStrong shareholders can expect forthcoming announcements regarding a new board of directors and executive team.

    Yeah,

I saw that press release, but couldn't find the MedStrong site, and there wasn't much to go on apart from the fact that they intend to launch a social network at some point.

Good grief... Let me call my mom and let her know.

I remember when the net was in its infancy (no pun intended) and one of the 'keys' to having a sustainable site was the number of letters in your web address... the thinking was, the smaller the name, the easier to remember. I also WANT to remember some company like Gartner doing research saying that after a certain number of letters, the likelyhood of people going to your site would drop by x amount. Four letters, 100% - 8 letters 60% and down from there.

momJunction has 11, once you add your username to the end it could be 20+... I don't know - call me lazy, but I think the names of things are getting out of hand again. MySpace - Youtube - mashable ...easy to remember and type... besides that, and probably more important... momJUNCTION *who uses the word "junction" in everyday life? I mean, is that a word that even comes to mind, like if someone asked what the name of the site was and you couldn't remember... would you naturally think "junction"? I don't think so.

This social network is too complex for "moms" to use. The Ripple feature is pretty cool, but nothing out of the extraordinary.

    There goes $1.5 million.

I would be weary of this MedStrong company. The OTCBB has always
been rife with fraud and pump and dump schemes. Maybe MedStrong is for real, but they haven't even launched anything apparently so there's nothing to see. Call us back when you have something to show. Social networking is hot so it was only a matter of time before somebody decided to use the OTCBB to take advantage. Listings can be done quite easily and the minimum requirements almost don't exist. You don't even need to have revenues. Forumla is announce that you're a social networking company and hope stupid investors pump your stock price up so you can bail without having to do a thing. Maybe they'll launch something, but they haven't even said what they're doing. Just telling us how great Web 2.0 is and how their company will be the way to invest in it (yeah right). They basically tell you nothing about the company other than where they're located. Who cares if Delray Beach is a Top Ten Digital City according to the Center for Digital Government. I live in a cardboard box in Manhattan, but real estate is really expensive there. So does my "residency" in Manhattan make me a wealthy man? I'm calling BS or fraud.

Maybe I need to launch a MySpace knockoff, so I can get in on these millions that are being given away like candy!

    Ronald - count me in.

Moms can't handle a sign up form and a social network profile?

Crap, I had better go cancel all of my accounts because having three kids must have tricked my brain into believing I could handle social networking.

    Silly me :)

It's even worse outside North America; no one else uses the word "mom" in everyday life either! They really ought to be a little more imaginative if they're aiming to build a worldwide social network. And I won't go into the whole "what about dads" thing...

Isn't it a strange coincidence that the major investors Saridakis and Gardner are at the helm of an online advertising agency? (www.PointRoll.com)

Marketers creating/funding a site for moms. That's kosher.

What's next? Proctor and Gamble launching a social network for moms, too? (Wait, I think I read something about that...)

I have just spent over an hour on Medstrong's public filings with the SEC. This company has just had 4 investors that I googled each one of these guys. Holy S_ _ t! This is no joke. I have also noticed that the stock has gone up 300% since I saw this first mention. What gives? I think we need a group meeting to see if we found a gem.

There are a lot of mom sites out there popping up, I know Minti competes with groups, but we are mainly an "advice-opedia" on parenting..part social search, part user generated content, part social community. Most of these mom sites focus on groups and are only for moms. Minti is more a tool to share information generated by parents (care givers, grandparents, dads, uncles, aunties) yes moms are the main target, but we don't limit to just moms and groups.

Clearly, you are ill-informed of the tremendous network of 'moms' who are already using this platform and these means to socialize, entertain, promote, encourage and support each other, their interests, hobbies and BUSINESSES!

"This social network is too complex for 'moms' to use."

I must have missed something -

I know nothing about how to predict the profitability of a social network or how the technology will play out BUT I do know that "moms" are capable of using and even maximizing the potential of any social network.
  • Katie · 2 years ago
    You missed another one...Operation Mom

I've just become a member of this one and I'm really liking it. I pretty much base my decision of which one to use by how it looks then move on to how it is to use.

Of course I would never agree that social networking is too difficult for moms. What an insult.

Okay...well I'm later than most in posting my comment

    cheers!

I have a family web site at Famster. While I love the:
    - Private online networking space for your family and friends,
    - Lack of advertising,
    - Easiest-to-use blogging tool, and
    - Unlimited space for photos and videos
I am frustrated by some of the “obvious” things they can do to make the site more intuitive and user- and visitor-friendly.

That’s why I’ve launched my blog at http://www.ILoveFamster.com.

Through it, I share what I think is both fabulous and frustrating about Famster. If you are a current, former, or potential Famster user, stop by and share your thoughts.
