OMG about time...I'm off to grab the dark shiny blue. With about 20 different gmail accounts on the go...what a gift!

Just because something CAN be done, doesn't mean it SHOULD be done. The beauty of Gmail lies in it's simplicity. Sure there are a few interface tweaks I wouldn't mind seeing, but dumping a bunch of useless graphics and dark backgrounds seems counterproductive to me.

Plus...each of these particular implementations is just butt-ugly. "Gmail Redesigned" has some redeeming qualities, but still exhibits the same overkill as the others.

But hey...it's your Gmail, uglify it any way you like. So long as I don't have to look at it.

    Good god, they are horrible!
  • Greg Rollett · 1 year ago
Yea those are not very appealing. I'll keep it simple.

Is that the wailing siren of the style police I hear?

    Just try Gmail Redesigned!
After I saw the screenshot I was not so convinced.
But now, I dont even imagine going back to the regular gmail skin.

Gmail Redesigned makes my gmail twice faster as before (I dont know why), it is much more confortable, its a new experience.

If you use Gmail a lot, you will appreciate, trust me !!!

I came across UserStyles.org awhile back but couldn't find a compelling enough reason to install it but this post has totally changed my mind.

I've just installed 'Gmail Redesigned' and I absolutely iove it and agree with the previous comment that I can't imagine going back to the regular gmail design, except for the fact that
it drags a bit too much on loading which may
pose a problem, I'll see but I really do love
    it.

I'm pretty much of a techie so I know what I'm talking about when I say as far as making
anyone's gmail run faster, I find that very hard to believe.

Thanks for posting this. it's great!

They are not very good in design!
  • Sandman · 1 year ago
Sure, the designs are not eyecandy at all. But I doubt any of you tried to restyle the massive, all-time changing and cluttered gmail-code with 100s of classes and variable ids just with css.
So Respect to the afforded time guys. I tried it myself but failed.

C'mon! After 4 years of boring blue/green/white in Gmail this comes as a welcome alternative. Look at all the other "skin" experiments and you'll immediately see this is indeed stylish.

Gmail Redesigned rocks. It is awesome, the individual e-mails look much better than plain version. It is compatible with Firefox 3 beta 5 version.

Dark Shiny blue is the only one I might consider, but I think I'll still stick with the classic.
  • Justine · 1 year ago
Hmm.. Yes, I think I will stick with the classic as well :)
  • Facey Spacey Development · 1 year ago
yea, but I don't like any of those skins.

I liked the last one, but I'm rather attached to the default look and feel of Gmail!
  • jive · 1 year ago
Hmmm. Been using the very last one, and the whole gmail user experience seems overall just better. I can get to things quicker and believe it or not, it increased my efficiency and productivity.

I'm a little surprised by this, as I've been using gmail classic for so long, but until now I haven't realized how ugly it really is. I guess it's true that aesthetics does increase productivity.

Honestly speaking,I never see any other people play Gmail like that way.
