Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 2007/03/17/snipitron/

The idea is really neat. When I was reading this article, I was pretty happy thinking that Snipitron is gonna be the best social bookmark site for me. But, after trying their Firefox extension, I'll say that at the moment, it sucks!

Everytime I click the bookmark button, it launches MS DOS and executes some codes. The second thing that I didn't like about this service is the bookmark procedure is too slow.

One more thing that I forgot to write in my first comment: Whenever you bookmark a website, the service caches the whole web page and stores the page as a part of your project. It's something that I'm yet to find in other social bookmark sites.

If they explain what their extension is doing by launching MS DOS and executing some code *every time* the bookmark button is clicked, I'll give it another shot.

One thing you'll notice, is that the FF and IE extensions dont simply save the link, but in fact pull down the entire page, even behind secure logins. That's why it takes a few seconds to transmit everything. If you dont like that, you can use the simple version of the bookmarklets, available on the download page. http://www.snipitron.com/download

We're big on implementing features that people want - just email us!

oh, the MS-DOS prompt... THe IE extension doesnt do that. In the coming weeks we're launching a whole new way of building projects that is beyond toolbars.... It will be a downloadable app that allows you to transmit files , screenshots, and web pages to your snipitron account with a single keystroke. More to come...

...great start for a great article. Keep in mind that Snipitron is a pre-pre-Beta. There are killer, unique features and add-ons well on the way...stay tuned. This thing is going to rock....

Not to steal Snipitron's thunder or anything, but if you are interested in that, Diigo.com (which I currently use for web clippings) does that too, amongst other great features.

Whoops! I forgot to mention that my comment was in response to Avinash's comment:
"Whenever you bookmark a website, the service caches the whole web page and stores the page as a part of your project. It’s something that I’m yet to find in other social bookmark sites."
