I've been able in total to raise over $200,000 from social networking sites in the last two years. I've been using Twitter for fundraising now for a year - but the August campaign was the most dramatic success
http://beth.typepad.com/bet...
http://beth.typepad.com/bet...

-It takes passion
-A good cause
-Storytelling or showing the impact of the gifts ..

Tools like twitter help accelerate the giving.

Re: The Well That Twitter Built

This effort bodes well for CSR in general. I am going to talk about this all weekend with my friends who don't use Twitter (LA crowd is slowly catching on).

Re: The Well That Twitter Built

Great work Pete!

And don't be too modest mate, your network produced a huge amount of funds in a really short time period!

I think the important takeaway is that the charity:water September campaign doesn't end here, despite the amazing results we saw on September 18. Personally I've had an extra an extra $295 donated in the 24 hours since my blog post (largely through the generosity of video blogger Steve Garfield) taking my total to $937.

Great stuff, how much further could it go in the 2 weeks until October?

Re: The Well That Twitter Built

Nice to see folks discovering the power of Twitter and Social Media for good causes ..

Re: The Well That Twitter Built

this is a great example of how social media can be used to scam gullible foreigners .. i live in india, i know exactly costs to dig, or drill, a well. you got robbed. not be a little. by a lot. wonder who is behind this project.

Re: The Well That Twitter Built

way cool... a little from each goes so far if everyone did one good thing to help others it would be such a better planet

Re: The Well That Twitter Built

THE Go-to person for helping charity via social networking (sorry I only know her (him?) via Twitter;

http://twitter.com/kanter Anyone who wants to maximize being charitable should "@" or "follow" her on Twitter.

www.twitter.com/A_F <--- This is me, not Kanter

Re: The Well That Twitter Built

This is a good example of how social media can change the world.
