Using RTM for mobile also really helps with implementing them. You never loose any tasks - I even changed the task managment app on my phone for a simple link to RTM website.

I second @Veronica's nomination of Brightkite. Yes, there are other location-based services out there and a whole lot more coming but Brightkite has a fantastic interface and has cleverly leveraged Twitter to gain traction. Definitely one to watch.

For implementing RTM make sure to read David Allen's Getting Things Done - it really explains what task management is all about. And while you're at it make sure you check out Nozbe as well - RTM paid-for competition. Or Dooyt for that matter ;)
btw. RTM is located in Australia.

Brightkite is a fantastic application, I'm glad it's gaining more and more popularity. The more people who use it, the more fun it is. And there's SEVERAL Twitter refugees who hang out there during downtime as well.

Regarding location-based social networking, there are a lot more websites than brightkite, most of which have been out longer and have a more robust offering (ex. socialight.com). Looks like a lot of people are trying to get some traction in that market.

Qik is my favorite startup out there, and I dont even use it yet. I think there is a HUGE potential with them, but I also think someone big like google could make a service like that on youtube and kill them pretty fast :(
