Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 2008/07/30/get-your-mom-on-twitter/

As soon as I get my mom "on the email", I'll definitely try Twitter next!

Good post though, especially about finding people someone to follow. Shows them the value (or... perhaps the lack of, depending) right away.

Great post. My mother actually emailed me about Twitter in January, but she never joined or looked at my account. On the topic of #4 - is there a good reference to Twingo? I keep seeing OH, and am wondering if it means something more than, Oh?

    Thanks!

As the creator of the twittering dads list, I'd just like to say that if your dad (or if you are a dad) joins twitter, send me a tweet or comment on the post in order to be added to the list. It is a great way to find and connect with like-minded people.

Great post! My mother is on Facebook and Second Life. I never thought of getting her on Twitter, but I'll definitely help her try it out now.

    Very cute article!

This is pretty much how I got my entire family on Twitter - though it did take a while! Showing people why it matters to THEM usually works :)

I had to get my daughter on Twitter... she's still not a huge fan, but she posts on occasion usually about school or her cats.

My boyfriend's mom just found me on Twitter... cute and endearing

My mom's on twitter - in fact she has two accounts, a personal one and one for her horse website http://www.equi-works.com. She gets really excited every time someone follows her. She's the type of person who spends time looking for new sites on Stumbleupon and scours twitter posts for new sites to try out - she tweeted about Cuil just the other day and told me I should try it. So there's a least one mom who's making great use of twitter.

There's also all these friendly NBC4i.com news anchors on twitter, too: http://www.nbc4i.com/midwest/cmh/news/nbc4now.html

These guys are so ahead of the curve.

I remember I got invited, posted a couple of things, nobody answered. Then I tried following a couple of people, again nobody answered. So I closed my account because twitter was the most boring site I'd ever seen!

@Alex OH means OverHeard - you heard someone say something. FYI.

Thanks Cory. Now I know, and knowing is half the battle.

    You're mom's already on MY twitter. ;-P

This has to be one of the best titles I've seen in a while. :) And my mom is set with the email crap, so looks like Twitter is the next online space she should conquer.

    Thanks for the tips!

could be the most useless article ever. congrats! time to move up to writing more "the 25 best..." articles about obvious crap.
  • Lionheart · 1 year ago
I have to say this is a weird article. Who cares if your mom or dad uses twitter?.
  • Jason Silva · 1 year ago
@Lionhart - I think the title is just being funny. If you read the article, it's about getting anyone on Twitter, not just mom and dad.

Fiesta Texas in San Antonio, TX has the best work ethics I've known, so far. They are in business, and treat their customers as their own families.
I recently went there to have fun during my vacation, along with my family, wife, children and myself, mother in law and two brothers in law. To my despair, my van that I went there in, as soon as I parked it, broke down. When we were ready to leave at night, roughly around 10:30p.m., sure found out, the hard way, that in fact, my 1991 Chevy van didn't want to start at all. I notified security, and they were very helpful. They all(those who were on duty on August 8, 2008, on or about 10:30p.m.) were very helpful. They offered assistance and so forth. Fiesta Texas upper officials personal need to know that they have a grrreaatttt staff and security. I was able to leave my vehicle there overnight and get it fixed the following day, without it getting towed away. Thank you all for great work. I stayed at a 5-10 minute motel away from Fiesta Texas. Thank you all so much for great work. I hope Fiesta Texas gets noticed by as many companies and people who are willing to go there for lots of fun water and other types of rides. Greaaaatttt job!!!! Fiesta Texas, in San Antonio, TX.
P.S. By the way, I live in Brownsville, TX which is about a 4.5 to 5 hour drive south of TX. Believe me, it didn't feel too good not to be able to leave in my own vehicle and having to use up someone else's space. My family and I are very greatful for the awesome service you guys are doing. May God Bless you and Your business even more, this year and coming years. If you have any questions my email is jocaballkites@yahoo.com. No, I don't drive a Porsche. It's just my dream car I will buy myself one day.

OK. this is cute, but you know what? Everyone's mom (or grandmom) ISN'T one of "The Golden Girls".
All grandmothers aren't afraid of computers. Some grandmothers have been online since online came to be. Some moms have been using computers since BEFORE the 1984 Machintosh ad.
This stereotype of older women (whatever the hell "old" is) is kind of obnoxious.
Just wanted to ad my little two cents.
