I am one of those people who received the "Invalid Friend ID. This user has either cancelled their membership, or their account has been deleted." message. I have written to customer support but have not received any response as of yet. If I have to reconstruct my entire profile, I may as well find a better site to do so.

On what basis to you gauge that Tagworld and the others are more reliable? They have nowhere near the traffic of Myspace, right? So we don't know yet. I doubt this is going to cause a huge backlash at Myspace. The broken-down ugly and practically unusable site just keeps getting stronger.

I don' have hard evidence, but I use both Tagword and Myspace. I've personally found the site is frequently unavailable, or portions of the site are unavailble. If the site isn't completely down, then it is very slow and unresponsive.

I haven't seen the same with Tagword. I will acknowledge that MySpace is much bigger than TagWorld, so their scaling requirements aren't as high.

To me, the big story is why is one of the world's biggest sites, backed by a very large company with plenty of resources (cash), not able to run in a reliable way?

I'm a member of myspace and from what I've learned of it it needs something better what that is I don't know but I don't have a problem with myspace and it's actually a cool place to meet up with old friends from what I've found on the site so far. And just to clear up something people on myspace are not all losers and pathetic because they choose to use it for a way to meet people when obviously there's nothing better for them to do. There's also tons of bands that use myspace to to promote themselves does that mean the members of these bands are losers too? Does that mean Kevin Smith is a loser? For those of you that say that myspace is a waste why don't you try it out first? I used to say the same things you did until I actually started using it myself.

Mine has been down all day. It started by saying my password was wrong when I tried to log in. Then later on it said that I had too many failed attempts and I had to insert the anti-spam numbers/letters, but there were none. Then about several hours ago, it showed the numbers and letters, but said that I had inserted the wrong one.

I assumed that it there was a problem with MySpace, but I was surprised that there was only several instances of chatter about it online. Wikipedia mentions it, and then I found this. Perhaps some of the MySpace folks have forgotten that there are other places to visit. But I should not talk.

This could be more of a crisis than bird flu.

My Myspace is STILL screwed up. I had the invalid password/account deleted problems last week. Then Friday, everything seemed ok, until I tried to leave comments. No can do. Been 4 days now. Each time I try, it says I've exceeded my daily usage.

Some have suggested it's something with my computer. Nope. I have several other MS accounts & I've been able to post comments from them with no problem.

I love myspace! I can say that Im very upset with all the problems they've been having , I do understand that power was lost in California, but that was about a week ago and the site is down now. I'm a model that has booked several gigs from using myspace. I think its a great place to network!! Because unlike most sites their most likely to "really" have the actual celebrity using that page. So I've met a lot of people from the site.
I'll stick with Tom for a little while longer.....

I know myspace is a huge site with millions of hits a day but come on you are a huge website you should have the tech support to fix everything quickly. My account has been "deleted" just like yours I hope it gets fixed thats for sure.

I've been down since last week. What I have noticed is that you can check your inbox for messages. That's it and this sucks. If they are moving things around why couldn't we get notice? Where is this new database center? Alaska? It's been a week now.

I'm so glad (not to seem rude) that it's not just me having this problem with Myspace. They've seemed to have deleted my account too. Has anyone heard when all their database hiccups are supposed to be done? The only reason I signed up is b/c my 10 yr class reunion info is on myspace. That's how we're all getting reacquainted...kind of cool. But now all my friends state my comments and profile have disappeared from their pages. Frustrating to say the least!

I can't even get the www.myspace.com home page to load on ANY computer to even ATTEMPT to sign on to my profile page...but even if I could, I would assume with myspace's track record I would be staring down the barrel of a "deleted profile" error screen. I am new to myspace and alreday I am tired of how frequently the server is down. What is the deal? Honesty? I don't know computer lingo....But I do know that myspace needs to better organize their network. This is getting to be ridiculous!

On the other hand, my frustration must only show how much I enjoy myspace when its up and running. I admit it, I am hooked

My sister woke me up one morning to tell me that my profile had disappeared from her page, as well as other family members pages... When I tried to logon, it said my username/password was invalid, and when I tried to visit, it said that the user had deleted/cancelled their account. Not sure if the "moving servers" response Tom gave is legitimate, or whether the account had been hacked. If I have to recreate my profile, I'm done with myspace... Myspace is becoming more work than its worth!

Has anyone out there had their account deleted and actually had it return as if it had never disappeared?

Today I received an e-mail saying that I have an e-mail that I need to access on myspace.
However, when I tried to access the e-mail I was unable to find it on myspace and the persons space could no longer be accessed with a message saying that the person's ID is no longer valid.....
Invalid Friend ID.
This user has either cancelled their membership, or their account has been deleted.

Please let me know if this a common problem, and if it is true that the person did delete his/her account, can I still retrieve the e-mail that was sent to me even if the account is deleted???

Is MySpace giving a timeframe of how long this "server" is going to be moving? I have e-mailed them 3 times over the past 2 weeks (that's how long my account has been "missing") and haven't had a response! UGH!!

With no real network status update, no real report on their datacenter migration situation, no updates, etc it is further evidence how unprofessional the site was originally developed and is currently maintained (or unmaintained). Very bad business model. But I'm sure there are companies watching to restructure the site. It may just be too late though, myspace users for the most part are not web-savvy (just taking a look at several unorganized messy coded/layout profile pages) and with their myspace pages being almost a daily necessity such as checking email, it would not surprise me if myspace users left to a more reliable social networking site. 2 weeks since the outage...how long will you wait?

I had something similar... I set up and account and you cant find me by my name zip code or school . The page is there but doesnt show under browse or search... I have written got no response. So I canceled that account and tried setting up another account witha different email and to no avail... Still not there.. So i dont exist LOL

It's August 14th and my account has been deleted for the last 4 days. I even tried to sign up for a new one using the same email address, but it won't let me. But when i request a forgotten password, it says no record of that email exists. And of course, when I use my myspace url, it says the account has been deleted, etc. When are these supposed to be restored?

myspace has really got me stressing.......
because
at first i thought i was the only one this was happening to because i did not hear anything abot myspace being down, i thought someone hacked my profile. and my story is pretty much the same as "china blue".. . i signed on to myspace and it told me i had a invalid password or id, so then i tried to visit the page and it said invalid this used has eithered canceled there account, so i waited a couple of days to see if the promblem would persits or not i asked around and some of my friends were not experining the same promblem as me. but now i see its not just me! my myspace profile took way to much time to make i would hate to start all over again!and if thats the case maybe its not worth it but then again... maybe it is...

ok i am another one of these people whos myspace is down. this has happend to me once and it came back but now it has been down for a few days and i dont think its coming back up.
i have tried to make a new one but myspace also isnt letting me make a new account. every time i try to make a new one it comes up "invaled friend ID, this user has either canceled their membership or there account has been deleted." . i have been so upset about this. but i guess i need to be away from myspace for a while, to many people are obsessed with myspace anyway. :/

I just discovered tonight that actor/comedian Hal Sparks has a blog on MySpace.com and I can't log in because they keep sending me my password from my account and no matter how! many times I use my password, I can't access my account. MySpace suggested going to Accounts to change my password. I would if I could find the Account Settings. You're supposed to click on Home on the navigation bar of any MySpace.com page. ..doesn't work! And I'm getting ticked off and frustrated.

There's no acceptable way to contact MySpace.com and I hope they get their new data base centre, up and running soon or I'm running out of patience.
I was actually on Hal Sparks blog tonight so I know MySpace.com is workable. If he had a blog anywhere else with an accessable address, I'd use it. I wanted to compliment him on his Celebrity Duets tonight on Fox.

Yeah when I read the message that my profile has been deleted I about freaked. I can still get into my mail but that is it. I had no idea that the other sites were more stable, after reading this site I am considering the switch. It only seems like the right thing to do. Hopefully my account will not be gone, it will give me a chance to let my friends on myspace know were I am going so they can follow. Sorry Tom, no hard feelings, right bud.

If my account was really deleted, they would send me an email telling me so right? I havent posted anything wrong so I dont understand why it would get deleted. I hope its not gone for good. so a month after my account is deleted, someone emails me from myspace... and they're like, "Hello, The account appears to be active. Thank you, MySpace.com" NO SHIT. After a month of waiting for you feeble minded f&$%tards I made another one. I wrote explaining that (sans expletive) and never received a reply back. Since I recreated my account, Ive lost the desire to use it, maybe out of the inherent fear/annoyance that it may happen again. I'm sticking to Friendster. Maybe not as glitzy but a hell of alot more reliable.
I think the masterminds at Myspace and their tech team are a bunch of brainless f$%&s.

About a week ago i was told by myspace i had new mail..i go there to look it apears i have NO new mail at all.. yet it tells me the amount of mail i have is higher then what it actualy being shown. The mail i got from the person has up and disinigrated out of thin air there account is gone any mail i had in my sent inbox deleated of this person seems to have disinigrated right along with them! were did they go? will they come back? do they come back? I really enjoyed talking to this person and now have no way of contacting them. I'm pritty bummed!:(

My profile was delete by MYSPACE in July & here it is Nov. 7, 2006, I'm still waiting to find out where my profile went or atleast why I'm unable to re-create my profile. "unable to process my request". I think that my emails are partially read then a response is generated by a computer. No one really works at Myspace or no "real live people" with "real qualifications".

i have noticed a trend with some of the deleted profiles. not all but some. many of the profiles i have noticed being deleted are ones that are comprimised by a bot or virus. those are the profiles that have been hacked and are posting those annoying ads in bullitens and such and then the fake profiles.

the 'exceeded daily usage' message usually comes from a user performing close to or more than 500 actions per day. than means commenting adding messaging ect... so if a profile has been hacked or the user is using one of those friend adder bots (which are usually the reason their profile is posting things with out their knowledge) you can quickly reach your daily usage. and if you get up near 250 myspace flags your account. if they find your using a friend adder, your deleted no questions. even if your profile has been hacked or your password phished by one of these myspace bots, your still a candidate for deletion.


i created an account to test this theory i went and visted questionable "myspace enhancment" sites and used the friend adders and all their other tools and sure enough my profile was soon posting bullitens and messages all on its own. within a few days it was deleted.

i think myspace is trying to clean house and get rid of all the bots, spyware malware and all the other self promoting malicious crap on their site now.

even if this isnt why so many are being deleted i would suggest not using any of those friend adders or visiting questionable sites while logged in( also make sure you never enter your password into any place other than myspace.com itself)

if your profile has been hacked/ phished and its doing all kinds of things you dont want it to, or youve used a friend adder in the past, all you need to do is change your password.

I read one of Tom's blog a few days ago and I decided to change my passwood. I had no trouble logging on until today. Ever since I've joined, I haven't been abused or degraded in any way. I tried to log on to my acount today and it was saying Invalid Friend ID. This user has either cancelled their membership, or their account has been deleted. Then I went to one of my friend's page and I wasn't on the list. When I first registered with, I decided to make my page well mannered 100 percent and have only friends that are 21 and over only. Now today I believe I no longer have a profile and I didn't even receive any confirmation that if I wanted to cancel my acount without warning. MySpace tracks IP addresses..If you happen to piss one of the censors off somehow by what you have posted in your profile, they will delete you and keep your IP address on record and no matter how many times to try to make a new account they will still know it is still you by your IP address..Even trying to mask your IP address will not work, because they also keep a data base record of what you previously posted in your profile and if you post the same data again they can still tell that it`s still you and you will be deleted everytime you try to make an account..So MySpace is a losing battle once you get on their shit-list...As I have already done myself..Everytime I make a profile it eventually gets deleted..I was just deleted again today after spending hours making a profile and I said nothing against MySpace in it, because I am aware that that will also get you deleted...You are not allowed to criticize MySpace at all..MySpace is completely fascist and it is owned by Rupert Murdoch and it is a trojan horse for destroying freedom of speech on the Internet! Rupert Murdoch is a right wing Bush supporting fascist pig! He also owns Fox News which owns MySpace..Tom no longer has anything to do with MySpace..They just still use his photo and his name..It was bought in July, 2005 for 500 million by Fox News and Rupert Murdoch and ever since it has been going downhill with people getting deleted for no apparent reason..If you are a dictatorship you can do things like this and that is what MySpace is now..Total censorship! That was the plan when Murdoch acquired it over a year ago..It was a plan to take over the Internet by the powers that be..

My profile was deleted three weeks ago. I lost contacts with friends that moved far away, charities i was involved with, and job contacts. Yes, I keepin touch with my jobs over myspace. Some may rown upon it, but to each his own.
There was no rhyme or reason for it's deletion, and no explanation. I set me back pretty bad though.

i've had literally over a hundred friends deleted, most of which i still have no idea why. i was able to keep all their old links. i e-mailed myspacer "customer service" and never got a response. all i want is to be able to know who was deleted, and that's it! just their name! i don't know if myspace keeps deleted myspaces archived or if its just temporary or what. i can't even find those old myspaces on yahoo or google.

i'm also having another problem. myspace barely works on my browser, mozilla. i have to use mozilla because internet explorer is really slow on my computer, however i am able to log in and view other profiles on internet explorer. myspace is a great site, but it looks like gradually it's becoming a pain, almost to the point where i hope someone creates a better website.

I tried to logon to myspace one day and out of the blue my account no longer exists, I tried to click on "forgot my password" and it read that my email address is not in their database. So I tried signing up for an account to replace my deleted one and it said I am ineligble for an account? I didn't have anything illegal or innappropriate on my myspace so I dont see why they deleted it. Screw Myspace!

I had a myspace account recently...Today I awakened from a nap. July 27, 2007.

I had nothing illegal on my account.....I try to log in and I am all of a sudden an Invalid User…I thought to myself “this can’t be happening” I had no porno graphic Material on my page but when I type in my user web address www.myspace.com/death_keeper I get this

I was promoting my poetry like many people do on there bloggs…I even was trying to promote myself to get bigger by having banners on mypage.... Actually I was really popular because I took the time out and talk to hundreds of people everyday…

I had over 40,000 people on my account...

I had dreams of even opening up a small amateur movie company to promote... I even opened up a band page and I was increasing on it also…

I think that is totally wrong and corrupted that myspace gives you an idea that one day comes crashing and burning to the ground.

Just like others I stayed up many of nights believing in myspace giving them a chance to help me create a places for my friends and fans to go to meet me and talk to me…

They even advertise on the site that you can have thousands of friends.

When I came to this website I never new that myspace where so selfish and down right hypercritical in the ways they are doing things. I see now that thousands of others have suffered my fate… Is myspace for expressing yourself or is it for embarrassing and participating in a time consuming game that takes a few years off of your life.

I hope someone in myspace administration hears this.

I wonder if this is the problem with two of my other accts (one is for my sister and one is for a 'free online help resource website' a non-commercial site)that I am apart of.

These two accounts disappeared off the map yesterday, and I'm wondering why. My sister is very upset over it, the other acct I'd only had for 2 days. It really sucks, but maybe this is the problem and it will work out?

My myspace account was deleted today for no reason. I complained because I was not getting any customer service to help me with a background problem I was having after converting from the old site to the new 2.0 site. After several complaints, I received an e-mail from the help desk that was unrelated to my problem, but they said they could not help me with my problem. A few hours later my account was deleted. I wrote them back and called them. I received an e-mail stating they would restore my account but could not restore ANY of the content.
