We're very serious guys. Last business we built was Eidos, the video game company. So we're well funded and staffed up with a genius team of dev guys. I ain't knocking any other network creator, but we set ourselves the goal to be the best.

Regards,
Dominic CEO Bright Things/SocialGO

Re: Build Your Own Social Network with SocialGO

Just seen the fund-raising and appointment of the new director, Charles Delamain, at Bright Things plc, owner of socialgo

With the cash in the bank, I'm confident the future of socialgo is safe now.

Congratulations guys!

Re: Build Your Own Social Network with SocialGO

Hi

I'm looking to integrate a social network feature into quite a few of my websites during the Winter and initially I only really looked at ning, but am now interested in Socialgo

Although ning as it is well-established, the recent problems with widgetlaboratory has made me a little concerned about how they intend to run their business. Do they really have the concerns of the network operators in mind? Are they likely to remove widgets or other features that are crucial to my network without notice again?

My concerns over ning made me look at socialgo, but I also have concerns about socialgo that need to be answered before taking them up.

My main concern is about socialgo as a going concern. Are they well funded or is there a chance I could put in hundreds of hours of work into building my networks only to see the company run out of cash and me lose all of my work?

Just from what I can see, ning have been around for years and their funding is well-publicized, making them look to be a more solid proposition. Are my worries over socialgo in this respect unfounded?

Re: Build Your Own Social Network with SocialGO

Hey Matt,

We would hope you will give SocialGO a try. It is purely an API, and completely headless so it snaps directly into your db - it's built to infuse the social elements at whatever layer is appropriate for your stack, rather than using templates.

Re: Build Your Own Social Network with SocialGO

Hey Ray -- Michael from KickApps here. The idea behind our layout is that they're entirely customizable to fit your needs. Think of it as a canvas with some basic structure to it. All it takes is HTML, CSS and/or JavaScript. Just design, not even development. - Michael

Re: Build Your Own Social Network with SocialGO

Hi Alex,

will there be an language editor on the network?

Thanks,

Ronald

Re: Build Your Own Social Network with SocialGO

Hi Guys,

I'm part of the team here at SocialGO. Firstly thanks for taking the time to check out the site and for all your comments.

Thanks to Kirsten for her comments which we will take on board (that's the purpose of BETA after all!).

With regards to the API, we are currently working on V1 which will open up user account control to allow developers to build bridges between existing membership databases and their SocialGO network. API V2 will follow shortly with further access.

We think we have built a unique service that differs from what other people have to offer and that gap is only going to grow as the service matures. We have an aggressive product roadmap and over the coming months hope to convert all the skeptics out there! :)

I'm always available if anybody has any questions or suggestions on alex@socialgo.com.

Cheers
Alex Halliday
SocialGO Founder

Re: Build Your Own Social Network with SocialGO

If ning is cool (and it is!) then what's wrong with looking like it?
