In 12 months we will collectively look back and Twitter will have had the highest growth rate of any social network (of the ones with 1M + subs). This is because;

1) As a communication platform, the product is inherently viral (takes two to talk).

2) They are an "eco-system" via their open API's. As a result, their application developer partners accelerate that growth rate by a factor of "X".

I also heard that sawigg.com (a social network) is growing really fast too, For the people that hate the new facebook, let me tell you, sawigg will not dissapoint you.

Really interesting stuff, although I'm not that surprised. I love Facebook and have never really taken to MySpace. Even with all the crap that Facebook has on it now, I am already addicted the community that I have created, and would therefore never leave. I am happy to see Twitter growing, and can't wait till it becomes truly mainstream. I can't wait for the day when all my tech and non-tech buds (and let's be honest- total strangers) are all accessible via Twitter and the lovely Twhirl!

P.S. I already said this through Twitter - but you guys have done a REALLY great job with site - it looks awesome.

It's truly awesome. Twitter is just one of these web 2.0 services that have boomed the web. I'm an avid user and will continue to be :)
