True, it did not work on Facebook. But facebook is vastly different from Bebo. Facebook *was* a private network, so opening up to everyone through RSS feed was a bad idea. Furthermore, Facebook's demographic is mostly college students. College students, as we know, are much more likely to protest than teens or elderly.

Bebo should've atleast experimented with it.
- Jawad Shuaib

Re: Bebo Debuts Personalized Homepage

All these sound like spokeo.com that just got mentioned by Om Malik:

http://gigaom.com/2006/11/2...

Re: Bebo Debuts Personalized Homepage

Pete, you should check out our site, Iceflake. It's basically a macro version of what all these sites are doing; in other words, it brings users stuff their friends create on Myspace, Facebook, Xanga, Tagworld, and many others (we're working to integrate a lot more sites such as Hi5, Multiply, and others).

You're absolutely right when you say that users of most social networks don't care about little orange feed buttons or the semantics of RSS. Iceflake uses RSS for the "plumbing" but we don't mention it anywhere on our site. We hope to make Iceflake extremely accessible for users of Myspace, Facebook, etc.
