A great list. Blender is certainly one of the best and costs thousands less than Maya too! Free. :)

I've compiled a list of the top 5 Graphic programs on my blog...and interestingly, only 3 out of 5 are on your list. There's two that I really think deserve to be there. http://generopolis.com/wpblog/2008/11/09/top-5-... (Especially if you're looking for a free version of InDesign.

FYI, I also posted a bunch of photo/graphic resources here (http://generopolis.com/wpblog/2008/11/11/the-be...) with fonts, textures and stock photos but the next post I'm currently compiling will have far more resource and lots of brushes!

Oh, thanks for this great list...there's a few programs I'm definitely going to look into...especially the Gimpshotdotnet...because using Gimp that looks like Photoshop is the best of both worlds!

    Thanks for the tip!

Guys, you're missing a great online photo and image editing tool - http://www.picnik.com
It's as simple as Picasa, but can do a bit more, and auto-integrates with Flickr, Facebook, & other sites so you can import your photos form those sites, edit them & post them, and since it's all done in the cloud, you can use it on netbooks.
