You've got a great list there, and I can add some more browser-based applications that do mind mapping, concept mapping and diagrams:

    Mind mapping and similar ...................
    bubble-mind.com Collaborative mind mapping
glinkr.net Concept mapping and mind mapping (shared but not collaborative)
mapul.com Collaborative mind mapping with an organic flavour
touchgraph.com URL mind maps for network visualisation
wikimindmap.org Make mind maps from WikiMedia articles
    webofweb.net Collaborative mind mapping
    writemaps.com Web-site hierarchical maps

Generic diagramming apps that can do mind maps ................
cumulatelabs.com/cumulatedraw/ Collaborative diagramming – can draw mind maps and concept maps
flowchart.com Collaborative diagramming – can draw mind maps and concept maps
imaginationcubed.com Collaborative diagramming – can (just about) draw mind maps and concept maps

Then there are outliners, as some prefer this to mind mapping ................
sproutliner.com Basic on-line outliner that lets you share outlines
    thinkfold.com Collaborative on-line outlining application

    Fixed, thanks.

Thanks for the great list and for including Coventi Pages. Could you fix the spelling to Coventi.com? (the link works)

    Thanks,

www.assembla.com provides free trac and svn for projects with unlimited disk space, we currently have up to 1gb projects. With these tools it's easy to build an open source/private project and team. Various management tools suck as ticketing and milestones are built in, making managing your distributed team and going through a complete agile software development process easy and manageable.

How about GroupLoop.com for Committee Collaboration?
  • Bill · 2 years ago
You should check out Collaber http://www.collaber.com this tool is basically a free version of Groove which allows everyone to create a workspace and share it with others. The great part is that if you work on a document offline, once you go back online it will synchronize with other group memebers. They also offer databases, tasks, calendars, contacts, links and other tools that work in a similar fashion.

Awesome tool, and the developers are quickly releasing new versions with new features on a weekly basis.

skrbl http://www.skrbl.com is another great collaboration resource with a live online whiteboard where users can type, draw, edit, share files & pictures with others.
  • Charles Whiter · 2 years ago
Nice work, excellent list... I'm satisfied with some of them, but do you think that they really need improvement? For example, I want to help someone in a project and all I need is a space to write and share. Can someone please recommend me something?
  • Sean P. Aune · 2 years ago
Peter - Fixed the spelling of Coventi, sorry about that.

    Mrinal - No problem.
  • Eugenio · 2 years ago
Maybe you missed the wonderful we+ ("weplus"). It's a great mix of tools, actually "decorated" with a web2.0 aim on collaboration and sharing feature. I think it's worth a try.
  • syahid ali · 2 years ago
love basecamp the most. no fuss interface.
  • Charles Whiter · 2 years ago
I don't like basecamp. They are too fancy colors and no improvements in features or possibilities with years. Check other, you will find more that you expect. I'm beta tester of one new project management software, it is very good.
  • Jeff · 1 year ago
Totally agreed. However, i found out a recently lauched new generation online collaboration tool, www.ajaxworkspace.com
, it's great. You can try it out...
  • Josephine O\'Malley · 2 years ago
Can you advise me please which is the best for project management and collaboration between colleagues? Thanks a lot. Regards.

    Wow. Lots of technology here.

Might want to take a look at Celtx, an OSS collaborative app designed for people creating media, including film, theatre, animation and comics.

    Thanks for the list!

In the business productivity section, you should also mention SlideAware. It's a business collaboration tool aimed at teams working with PowerPoint (== pretty much everybody in the business world :-)

Great list but I didn't see SharePoint on this list. The 3.0 version is free but some of the other versions cost. It can be used to manage docs, tasks, wiki's, blogs, issues, risks, deliverables.

    I'd add prototonotes - http://www.protonotes.com/

ajax lookup is a free service that instantly checks domain name availability.
  • lhjava · 2 years ago
Need an Ajax loading gif, favicons, or a cool sounding web 2.0 name? If you answered yes to any of those, then head on over to WebScriptLab. This site is simple yet utterly practical. The first tool out of the lab is a gif generator; if you haven’t already got a little round icon to indicate your Ajax is loading you can create one; simply pick an indicator type, background color, foreground color, speed, and presto, you’ve got yourself a handy yet elegant loading icon. To create favorites icons upload a picture (150KB max.), convert it to the 16x16 Favicon standard and hit generate. The same goes for your web domain, just click generate and see what’s available. WebScriptLab may not have tons to offer, but what they’ve got so far is pretty useful.

Yes, you miss WE+, a new collaborative tool for project management, based on web 2.0 paradigm.
It's very simple to use, you can take advantage of calendar, wiki, blog, messages, tag cloud, sharing documents and manage your tasks and milestones with projects and interaction with your team.
It's full of useful features, it supports various language (english, italian, spanish) and it's FREE!!!!

    Hello,

Here is another free online collaboration tools, ajaxworkspace.com. Its offers corporate and personal collaboration solutions to different type of users. The product features include project management, document management, task tracking application, online event calendar, discussion board, news & headline, file sharing, expenses management, contact management and personalization

The interesting part is the personal workspace allows you to work with different group of people within the same workspace. Unlike traditional collaboration tools, you do not need to create multiple workspaces to work with different group of people. You can invite anyone to join your workspace with one single workspace login.
  • Kirill Kouterguine · 2 years ago
Another good online collaboration tool is www.openeffort.com - very intuitive way to collaboration. It offers a chapter structure for the documents you create and different models for collaboration.
  • e-LM.com · 2 years ago
    Another online project management tool:

e-LM.com allows you to manage project risk, scope, traceability, testing, issues, defects and documentation. It also allows you to manage product lifecycles with release, release notes, change requests, issues and defects. Projects and products can be grouped together into programmes with key indicators summarised across the programme.
  • Bruce · 1 year ago
e-LM now also supports project milestones and budgets.

I'd like to suggest Collanos Workplace, a free peer-to-peer team collaboration suite, to be added to the list: It allows internet users to form teams and collaborate together on a shared projects, supporting on- and offline work. Available for Mac, Windows, and Linux PCs it enables users to invite colleagues, friends, or partners to a team workspace where members can immediately share and organize their files, notes and links, lead discussions, and assign tasks.
  • Scott Annan · 2 years ago
Web Groups by Mercury Grove is a great online collaboration tool. It's free, easy to use, and very robust.
  • Gregory Islander · 2 years ago
As a freelance web designer, I personally think CollabTRAK.com ( Check them out ) is a great project collaboration and tracking tool. Plus it's free to use! They should have been on this list. Just my 2 cents...

    Hi,
This is in reference to your statement that "Collaber http://www.collaber.com this tool is basically a free version of Groove". I Would like to inform people that Collaber is a product of Vimukti Technologies in that way it is not related to Groove. Where as Collaber is similar to groove since it is also Collaboration Software and many of our customers feel that the true Groove replacement has arrived!. Check out www.collaber.com for the latest updates.

    Nice !!
What i have seen when doing projects is the use of a project management system. This really helps to get more opportunities of getting new projects as the client gets a better impression of professionalism. Like in our company we used basecamp (www.basecamphq.com) for project management purposes and it changed the email email games we used to play. After Basecamp we have tried so many of the alternatives available today but everything seemed to be either complex with all those functionalies which were not even useful rather made the management process even more difficult. It then came to mind that Basecamp was actually better till the time we found a new product called Proofhub. Though now we use Proofhub Proofhub as our project management system you can use some but this 1 is the best from all that we have used and at a good price.
    Thanx for the post
