However lately they have resorted to some practices that is unsavory. They have gone on a banning spree. Some of the reasons are not capital offenses. And worst is why are they doing this to members who are paying (as in real money) customers. Aren't they in the business of making a profit? And when you try to work it out with them, there number one response is "open a new account". But the worst offense is when they ban account with real money in them and then refuse to give a refund or transfer the money to the new account. I am starting to suspect that the ban spree is to falsely boost up membership. That's how they got Verizon Wireless to back them up recently. Or an elaborate scam. Because if you start all over again, you find the need to invest more money to get to the level you were before the banning. Regardless of their motive it's bad customer service and something must be done. I can't imagine how much money they have kept from unsuspecting "13" year old's. Potential members/gamers BEWARE.

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

I strongly recommened this to anyone over the age of thirteen. I for one have one. And I'm proud to be apart of this wonderful site. We have chats about our lives and stuff. We pretty much help eachother out.

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

It's only been around for five, LOL.

Obvious liar is obvious.

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

I joined Gaia back in 'o4 and can honestly say it has gone way down hill. It's extremely commercialised now, even more so than Neopets is. Those who AREN'T complaining about the layout clearly weren't around in the old days when everything was so much better. It's basically been taken over by n00bs that infest the place now.

Er, yeah, haven't bothered to seriously use Gaia in a year or so now, but everytime I pop by when I'm bored I leave shortly after. It just sucks.

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

Many features are broken and have been for a while. This includes inventory, gifting, no filtering for bad language, fishing, word bump and towns and don't get me started on the cybering. Then there is the fact that in July Gaia rolled out some bad code that caused a games item glitch. Hundreds of users were banned and two months later can still not use trades or the market. It was not the fault of the users yet Gaia has left them to rot as the forgotten ones while they are busy adding more ads and sponsor items. Not the site it was even 1 year ago and not a place to let your kids be on with the lack of language control and rampant cybering.

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

I have been playing Gaia since 2004 it is now 2008 and I think Gaia evolving is a wonderful thing.

I enjoy the changes and having to get use to it over and over again

I am 24 I enjoy story writing in the threads with all kinds of people. I personally appreciate that there is a site like this Not geared towards small children.

There are allot of sites out there suited to a younger audience.

I think that old fogy Gaian's like my self need a place to enjoy our Fantasy star wars Rp's and what have you.

I enjoy Gaia very much and intend to play until it as long as I have an interest . It was actually nice back then and the people were nice. The General Discussion forum had some nice topics. There weren't much hackers, scammers, or stupid n00bs either. We had the nice newbies and people who actually wanted to help out newbies.

But now, ever since Gaia became popular, it's very different. Basically it's like what happened to Neopets. 5 years ago Gaia had no sponsors or any of these crap movie trailer deals and whatever. Now it does. 5 years ago, newbies had to scrape for gold just to get something decent to wear besides the peasent clothes. Now Gaia is taking it easy on newbies by introducing them these "starter packs".

Oh yeah, and the General Discussion is now raided by a bunch of annoying teenage scene kids, who think Gaia is just like Myspace or whatever. The GD has basically become the second Chatterbox.

eh. I myself don't go on the forums anymore. I just stick to my guilds. They have some nice and actually intelligent people in these guilds, and lots of common things to talk about besides just stupid chatter.

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

FUN---!!!!

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

i ♥ gaiaonline!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

yes they do be talking about you....you should get that fixs....unless you like people talking about you have sex...lol

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

jnbh dgnbhy brehyq3

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

GO GAIANS EVERYWHERE!!!!

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

Go Gaia! ;D

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

How come when I go to Gaiaonline the page is all white. Of course with a site growing so fast things are going to change. I love gaia and probably spend too much time on there, and I will continue to as long as I enjoy it and have fun. If you don't like it anymore leave, it's as simple as that.

gotta hate the trolls/spammers though >.>

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

Gaia has increasingly become more immature and nubbish over the years.... however I still cannot find myself to leave the site, I love it too much and i have friends there >

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

VC is a company that gives lones to small starting up new idea high risk companies pretty much
they buy a certain amount of the stock of the company for over the price it is worth so that if it ever dose hit big they sell the stock for bundles just like they previously did for ebay and myspace

so its not that lanzer sold gaia he just sold a portion of the future gain gaia will make

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

yea i know i have been a member for like 3 years now since i was in highschool but now that i am in colloge i fell to old for it lol

Re: Gaia Online Gets $8.93M for Anime Community

Its not a teen based site.
