Fairly permission license, actually - with one exception: it states it can be used in other applications that are NOT like Word/Excel/Powerpoint (meaning not Word processors, spreadsheet apps or presentation tools).

Even if Live Documents didn't implement every single "feature" or "behavior" of the Ribbon UI, it sure is similar enough that they are definitely violating the license. Let the fun begin.

Re: Live Documents Looks Exactly Like Office

Thinkfree Office also looks pretty much the same as the MS version, so I don't feel like rushing out and trying "Live Documents" - especially if there is a chance they will be litigated to oblivion soon in the future.

One thing that makes Thinkfree stand out for me is that in Show (their version of Powerpoint) they have replicated the MS 3-pane view that allows me to add/see slide comments *beneath* the slide they refer too.

That's vital for what I do and I haven't come across any other "Powerpoint-alike" that has that facility. Several will allow you to view/print comments onscreen, but not while viewing the relevant slide thumbnail.

Re: Live Documents Looks Exactly Like Office

Just to set you straight,
Bhatia wasn't a Microsoft employee ever. He was one of the co-founders of Hotmail which Microsoft bought out.

Re: Live Documents Looks Exactly Like Office

I don't think I'm the only one smelling a lawsuit.

Re: Live Documents Looks Exactly Like Office

khong biet nua

Re: Live Documents Looks Exactly Like Office

I thought I read a disclaimer on the live documents site that says they are NOT part of MS as you say in your article. Does my memory fail? Also Screen shots are available on the site.

Re: Live Documents Looks Exactly Like Office

It'll only give Google and Zoho an itch if it's free, which seems unlikely.
