Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 2007/04/18/zude/

I have to say that this looks like the easiest way in the world to "borrow" content from anywhere.
Thats the impression I get from their demo.
  • Adam Ostrow · 2 years ago
John - After seeing it live today, I definitely agree. It literally is just drag something from one browser window onto your Zude page in the other. Pretty neat stuff.
  • luro · 2 years ago
the name is just a little close to "Zune", isn't it ?

    nonetheless, looks promising
  • john · 2 years ago
pretty cool, but netvibes is free with out adds. Drag drop function cool, but I don't think I'll make the switch
  • connectionfailure · 2 years ago
I am compelled to compare this with Apple's earlier announcement to release a tool/utility in Leopard that allows creating a widget from any portion of a web page. Same concept, except it will be in Dashboard rather than inside a browser window.

Its really cool, its amazing, its totally great technology but the fact is, 98% of users wont do that....its too much work. KISS
  • adam · 2 years ago
they have reinvented frontpage express in the browser! great ...

now shame i dont use IE!!

One of the challenges concerning the richness of Zude is how to convey the right message, and accomplish proper knowledge transfer, to the vastly different types of users that would benefit from using Zude.

Cleary one of the points that we have thus far failed to deliver effectively is that Zude removes all constraints while providing technological empowerment -- even to non-technies. Specifically, if you wanted Zude to look EXACTLY like MySpace -- it is drag and drop easy -- and you would be hard pressed to tell the difference. If you wanted to make Zude look like a "conventional web site" -- again very easy. If you wanted to consolidate all the web widgets into a single place, whether from Google, yourminis, WidgetBox, or wherever -- you certainly could do that too. And, if you wanted to use Zude to create an advanced web-based interactive application -- Zude also provides all the heavy lifting for that.

We designed Zude to be the ultimate consolidator. But the truth is, it is so powerful and flexible that even we do not know all the cool things it will be used for.

Certainly it will take time for Zude to put big smiles on lots of peoples' faces. That's why we are releasing May 1st as a public beta. We are VERY interested in the feedback from users with all backgrounds and experience levels -- as well as hearing about the innovative ways they are using Zude to enhance their web presence. In the end, we hope this public collaboration will make Zude better than even we could imagine -- and exactly what users of the Internet wanted.

Looks like you guys have some powerful stuff under the hood.

I just hope your logo is in beta too.

Superficial I know, but it's important. Personally I'd have a hard time investing in or recommending until I feel more comfortable with the brand.
  • Steve Repetti · 2 years ago
Which logo? Zude? 5g? Both? You should have seen the other hundred we didn't pick!
  • Smith · 2 years ago
this reminds of another application which i saw an year back. but this one really disappointed me, with the interface and the funtionality. and again it makes me feel like another copycat application. hope these guys will stop copying and start innovating?
  • Steve Repetti · 2 years ago
I hope that before people say "stop copying and start innovating" they will at least take the opportunity to try the product first. Zude launches May 1st -- ALL opinions are invited!

All this is already been out in the world for a long time now....for example ZCubes - www.zcubes.com
So what new this site does and by the way who come with a funny name like this....
  • jennifer · 2 years ago
Hey this one looks like a lighter version of zcubes.com. I have been using zcubes to introduce my students to web designing.
  • Higgins Crockel · 2 years ago
    you suck cocks
  • David · 2 years ago
Funny name. Seems to have crashed on the first day. There is another site called Protopage here in Europe that seems to be almost the same thing, from what I read.

Will have to check it out later.
  • Steven · 2 years ago
ZUDE crashed on day 1 and these guys were claiming to replace netvibes....what a pity..
  • Christopher · 2 years ago
The site looks incredibly promising....but I absolutely agree that the logo is TERRIBLE. It looks like it was taken from an awful mall surf shirt circa 1991...probably one of the worst I've seen. I would highly recommend changing it.
  • Christopher · 2 years ago
zcubes.com is pretty awful looking too...c'mon guys, I thought you were supposed to be replacing web designers.
  • Larry Rubin · 2 years ago
I've been messing with the Zude beta and I have to say- it looks like a giant pile of poop.

One thing I do like is that they took all the worst elements of social networking '03 and put them into one place. Didn't we learn anything from Friendster?

Bonus points for sticking the text ads so close to navigation items that you can't help but click on 'em. That musta come from up high.

When I played the game for the first time ,I liked it deeply until present. In this game ,we can use the shaiya money and the shaiya gold .These shaiya money that if we got a upgrading ,maybe we could get a encourage for these shaiya money .But it is not the only way to get these shaiya money,we can also use the RMB to buy shaiya gold.
