It is cool, but it sucks that you can't make the comments from the news feed.

Well you have to go to each person's profile to make the comment.

Maybe they will update it so you can comment on the news feed too.

Bothing new here...Facebook copying something. They did it with mini feeds (taken from Multiply) and are copying Friendfeed. Friendfeed is a much better service, sorry... Friendfeed is a service! While Facebook is a time waster. Mashable however writes about Facebook like 10 times a day so ce la vie.

If I comment on Facebook, will my comment show on my mini feed as my update? Now Friendfeed is one big centralized location where you go to one single place and see everything (at least I live in that illusion in spite of friends and rooms.)Will my comments on Facebook scatter all over my friends' profiles or show up in mine?

Justine, there are far too many times when I agree with that statement. =]

But this could prove to be an interesting move on Facebook's behalf. I've got a handful of friends who use Facebook and don't have a clue as to what Friendfeed or Twitter are. Then, there are those who simply don't understand. This will harness in those 'less-tech-savvy' ones by introducing this basic FriendFeed concept to them.

But I do wonder if it will pick up momentum on Facebook or if it'll just die away.

And.. when does Facebook come out with their redesign..?

I like this..

However I wish both FriendFeed and now Facebook, provided you with the option to moderate your comments.

Especially in Facebook.. some friends may post something that could be offensive. I would like the option to moderate the comment prior to posting rather than deleting it after it's already been viewed by others. If that is even an option in this feature.

A big difference is that Friendfeed pages are on the open web connected with search engines and addressable with working URLS whereas Facebook interactions take place behind the walled garden.

how do you think they serve different purposes? Facebook now does almost exactly the same thing, it's just a matter of adding more services and bringing commenting to the News Feed too.

This is great since I can't get my IRL friends to even look at friendfeed.

I gave friendfeed a second chance and while its ok, all it does it cater to the social media fan crowd and you really can't discuss anything other than what new web 2.0 technology is out there.

Still some of my facebook friends is going to not understand it and see it as "creepy".

I think this can have the potential to shake not only FriendFeed, but Twitter too ... Think about the ease of following conversations either online or through mobile (blackberry FB app, iPhone, SMS, ...) and integration for xxxx millions of Facebook users who already use status updates all the time.
