Regarding the Google v. Yahoo believability though, I suppose it should be noted that Google logs a search everytime you type in the address of a website into a non-IE browser. Whereas with Yahoo you're looking more at the result of actual searches.
Best I can come up with tonight at least. ;)

Congrats on the continued growth. You do not get as much credit as you deserve. I am a loyal reader and will continue to do so. You should be proud of your accomplishment.
Cheers,

My point exactly - I actually linked to that graph from the post, and also threw in YouTube.
I know, not really relevant, but, hey, I'm a Mashable fan-girl. What can I say?

You do a good job man, and i've enjoyed reading this blog for the last 6 months or so.
Please continue and keep us updated!
The reason for this is because the Google Zeitgeist is a regular look at an aggregation of the most popular and fastest-rising search queries as indicated by what people are typing in to their Google.com search box. Zeitgeist means "spirit of the times," and Google search queries, when seen in volume, tend to reflect what is collectively on our minds day in and day out. People use Google to search for what's new and interesting and top of mind. Therefore, these lists are not necessarily the most top searched terms of 2006.
Frankly, that response makes no sense.
LOL (literally.) Are you channeling my Mom, Pete?
"You never call, you never visit - what must the neighbors think?"
(Sorry - I think the holiday season is starting to get to me...)
Anyway - I'm one of those lousy no-commenting lurkers, so figured I'd check in and say hi. Will continue reading daily so long as you promise not to pester me about when you're getting grandkids. ;)
OK, you can spend Christmas with your Mom and New Year with Mashable - there's enough MJ to share. ;)
There was no press release at that point - it started with a BBC story, based on communication with Google, that these were the "most searched terms of 2006". Everyone from ABC to CNN took the data and said on TV news and in newspapers that these were the most searched terms. Even Google's site had the stats with the heading "top searches 2006". Google put up a post on their blog a few days later to clear up the mess, but that post obviously attracted a lot less coverage.
