This reminds me of the FlipFOLD story. Someone wanted to make folding clothes fun for their children, so they cut up a piece of cardboard, and make a fortune off the idea.
Hilarious. But you know, any app can learn from this: dig in past the what and how and for whom and just go straight to the why. It's not the weather most people want to know, it's how to work around it.

Excellent article and insight. I think this is absolutely, 100% the right way to look at things. Another way to phrase it that the succesful sites won't give people data, they'll give them the *information* they want.

Great port..funny.. short and simple on getting the information rather you need a umbrella or not..hahah
If only it were that simple here in Seattle. While it does rain about 200 days a year, there are at least 12 different variations of rain. Only 2 kinds of rain require an umbrella (or bumbershoot), and one requires an ark. The remaining 9 kinds of precipitation necessitate only some combination of fleece, Gortex and/or a hat.
