It was shocking when YouTube was banned, but for the Thai government to be picking out any sites it doesn't agree with is completely wrong.

We can thank YouTube for making the Thai government feel comfortable with these blocks, since YouTube agreed to the Thai demands once it was taken down.

You must understand that insulting the monarchy is the worst crime possible in Thailand. It is not unreasonable for them to ban Mashable for reporting and posting links about it (something which, in itself, could be a crime). In the US, you can get a visit from the Secret Service for merely wearing an 'anti-Bush' T-shirt or saying something bad about the President. Of this, there are plenty of examples. (Except that doing so is not a crime. Which country is being unreasonable?)

You are not banned in Thailand. I am in Thailand and surfing without proxys and all that stuff. All that might have happened is, that the "guys" at true online in Thailand once again censored half of the internet (last week they did) because they don't know how to do it.

How silly that you wear this as a badge of honor whereas it is abhorrent behaviour in Thailand to insult the King.
It is the right of the Thais to have laws that criminalize insults of the revered King. Why can't you guys respect the fact that different countries have different laws and in this instance it is a justified law. In some European countries, it is a crime to glorify Nazism, and yet the Western media gladly accept that fact.
Please respect other cultures, and let them run their countries the way they see fit instead of playing armchair judge and jury!

I love Mashable! It is unfortunate that your site/content is being blocked in thailand.

Here is an idea for a protest. Allow other websites to republish the offending content (not your whole site, but just the YouTube article). I would put it on my site in a heartbeat. A government may be able to block one site easily, but imagine if legions of your readers re-published your article!

mashable.come seems to be working now in thailand. I have been in Thailand for about years, the Thais are good people just dont rub them the wrong way. One of the ways to do that is talk about their King. I am not sure what the videos on youtube were as I did not see them, but I am sure it was enough to cause the Thai people to become upset. Try to think of it this way, some things are sensitive to you but not to others. Those in the states are sensitive about 911 and the world trade center. So if a country were to make a video with people jumping out of the towers and etc. I know that someone or a group of people would be offended at this in the States, and ready to bomb that country or what ever Bush(little hitler) would feel like doing. Get the idea? The same way we as americans would feel about that is the same as the Thais do when their King is badmouthed.

The Thais dont love their King just because of the law, they love their King because of the things he has done and personal sacrifice he has done for his people. You would not know unless you were here. I dont think any country could love their leader as the Thais do their King. Think about it. Its not a matter of free speach, its not a matter of censorship. Its a matter of resepect to each other. The world is not big enough for all this bickering.

Its too bad countries which want to ban things for political reasons don't simple ban pages instead of entire sites. Instead of china banning wikipedia they could simply ban the exact pages which contain certain keywords.

This site (mashable.com)is NOT banned in Thailand (as of April 28, 07) and those screens are NOT the ones you see if you run into a banned site. Far from it. I don't know where you got those from.

As far as I know, I can browse mashable from my office. But I can't access yours from my home because I'm using TRUE ISP from my home that banned yours. :(

Now that ISP, they blocked Wikipedia :(. What a funny!
