It's true that without money flowing in, you fall into a deep trap.

Perhaps this is just a bubble effect and gossip websites will eventually spring back. This will probably be around the same time as the advertising bubble rebounds.

The issue with Juicy Campus was always the hate filled and slanderous/libelous posts that littered the site. The 'free speech' argument wore thin too, in the light of the type of posts on the site.

We've built an anonymous site (www.answerjam.com) and we try to address some of the issues. We created a community around anonymity, and allow users to post and comment using aliases. The idea to provide a safe and fun haven for people to rant, confess, gossip, ask for advice as well allowing users to engage in conversations around these posts, all while being 100% anonymous. We have policies in place to deal with real names being used on the site as anonymity should be something that hide behind while launching attacks on others.

juicy was good, but we all knew it wasn't going to last forever. There are only so many times you can stoach hearing about so and so having AIDS or sorostitutes, I bet that new website poshsociety.com will pick up its revenue. It's more like gossip girl or a tabloid and doesn't just bash. It says real gossip-which is not always negative-along with pictures. I wonder if that is Matt Ivestors new brainchild

I am so glad this site is finally getting shut down. This remarkably insensitive and immature web site has caused more grief to my sorority sisters, friends, and the Greek communities across the nation than I could ever imagine. Greeks, especially since we are already faced with enough stereotypes to begin with, need to stick together and support our sisters, brothers, and houses... not spread obscene rumors and hate. It only proves those against Greek life right.

its a shame, can't say i didnt see it coming though... there was really not much benefit, nothing unique that the site offered... anonymous gossip is extremely easy to initiate in many ways online
