This does look very nice and in the traditional facebook look, which has it so nice and clean.

Is anyone else not able to get to that URL (themob.facebook.com)? On my iPhone, Safari says it can't load the website, and on my computer I'm getting a "too long to respond" error message.

Hi, I'm the guy at Facebook who built this. We haven't launched the site yet and themob.facebook.com was only for testing. Stay tuned, the official launch is coming soon.

When this actually is released, please repost this Mashable.

Wow, absolutely beautiful... kinda reminiscent of the XMB (which is a great interface that I've yet to seen be implemented on an iPhone app)

I always use Facebook, but each page has got to be 10MB (so slow over edge)!! Hopefully this'll speed things up as well as let me show off some more sexiness on my iPhone 8)

Very, very cool stuff. Can't wait.

Imagine what it will be like once apple opens the file browser, for mobile uploads.

I can't find that San Diego developer garage on facebook :/ is it not there yet?

As of now it's dead at http://themob.facebook.com , but is live at http://iphone.facebook.com . Nice work.

Stunning is right - Facebook for iphone is cleaner than the full blown version.
  • Joe Average · 2 years ago
    Maybe I'm missing something?
    Could someone fill me in?

Why would you want (or even NEED) to access FaceBook on your cell phone?
  • rich · 2 years ago
    this is sweeet
  • abraham · 2 years ago
This is amazing. I actually think its more usable than the main site. Extremely impressed.
  • Ross · 2 years ago
OMG I LOVE THIS .. i almost love it more than regular facebook
  • paul · 2 years ago
erm...brian solis, this isn't a killer app because its not an app, its a website and why wouldn't you simply visit facebook on a html enabled phone??
  • Vero · 2 years ago
I've just had a go on the iPhone version vs the regular mobile version, and it really is gorgeous.

I'm looking forward to seeing how app developers take advantage of this unique UI!

I wonder if specialized web apps are good for the iPhone. I guess so long as the features match the regular site or the option is given to not be automatically redirected to a special iPhone version all would be okay.
  • dnsf · 2 years ago
    Very artfully done.

Super-easy access from a tiny space.
  • Justin · 2 years ago
just checked it out on my iPhone. its awesome. browsing facebook before was actually kind of a pain and for some reason i couldn't update my status add/remove friends, etc. this should make it a whole lot easier and it looks great too!

    Nice!

What I really want to know is if there is actually a San Diego Developer Garage going on soon? I live downtown, so I'd like to go.

Try this: bookmark the iPhone Facebook site in Firefox, and go to Organize Bookmarks and view its properties. Then check off "load this bookmark in the sidebar." Voila! Easy-access Facebook.

Not sure if I like this or not. They should definitely have an option to turn this off and just go to the normal facebook webpage.

Should load faster now, but for me the cool thing about the iPhone web browser was that you didn't need special mobile web pages.

LOL why are people so obsessed with facebook? Still cool nonetheless to have it on your iPhone though.
