I've always found many of the social networking sites to be too "virtual" and not grounded in the real world.   Sites like &lt;a href="http://ning.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="ning.com"&gt;ning.com&lt;/a&gt; and &lt;a href="http://TabUp.com" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank" title="TabUp.com"&gt;TabUp.com&lt;/a&gt; allow real world groups to communicate between those face to face meetings.    Yes, the social networking sites have there place, but lack the collaboration tools necessary to strengthen and help hold groups together.   Would you use Faceback or My Space to support a "Book Club" or "Keep the Beach Clean Effort"?
