Mashable - The Social Media Guide: 2006/12/14/19-ways-to-make-social-sites-pay/

You haven't mentioned shvoong.com that pays to people who submit abstracts or translate exisiting ones.
  • Wii · 2 years ago
You missed probably the best way to make money online is via AssociatedContent.com. They pay up front of the usage of text and video content. A lot of their writers have gotten a lot of success. Associated Content is always setting up interview opportunities for their writers. One of the writers Cindy Wright just interviewed Taylor Hicks last week.

    Lawrence,

Hehe, I actually covered most of those in the past, but they didn't occur to me when I wrote that post up.
  • Egon · 2 years ago
Newsvine (http://www.newsvine.com) share ads revenues with its users

    Great writeup Pete!

One aspect that was not mentioned is the link value of most of these sites. Even a marginally successful myspace page can drive links to an affiliate or e-commerce site.

Creating entertaining promotional videos can generate huge business. This study shows a huge return on your investment of creating a video:

Excellent entry, M8! I was wondering when somebody might post about social media monetization...
  • David G · 2 years ago
Interesting that these are all cash-for-media sites -- media wants to be free -- I don't expect any of these to make many members rich other than those that are just ad-serving engines like revver -- and even then, success is more dependent on your publishing prowess than your creative talent.

The most productive online community in terms of cash-paid-to-members is still e-bay. In the monetization of communities, media is not where the big $'s are. On the topic of weird social networks that are paying dollars though, there's probably nothing more ballsy than weblo.com.

Pardon the tangent, but any bets on how long it will take before we look back and realize just how stupid the names of some of these Web 2.0 properties are? I mean, c'mon, "Eefooz", "Guba", and "Shvoong"?!

Thank you for the comment on MyNuMo.

FYI: MyNuMo will soon be offering ringbacks for AOL's VOIP phone service, so our artists will be able to sell content to AIM Phoneline users.

With mobile content, our net revenue split with artists is closer to 50%, we pay close to 50% to the carriers for billing and delivery (P-SMS). We are live on Cingular/AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, and Verizon.

In the beginning of 2007 we'll add "Kewl Text", the ability to create subscription text services.

    All very cool stuff.

    Thanks,

    William Volk
    CEO, MyNuMo

TREND HUNTER Magazine (www.trendhunter.com) is another example. The site shares half its ad revenue with Trend Hunters, so they get paid to blog trends.

Interesting... don't forget about http://www.WeWin.com which pays users by rewarding them with prizes.

    There are many more:
    http://www:squidoo.com/supermom_in_ny/
That squidoo lens has a long list with tutorials to help maximize earnings.

Blogitive is on the top of the "blog for pay" sites because they pay weekly by paypal.

Everything else you need to know can be found at that site (including why I created the site).

    Enjoy!

iStockphoto pays photgs and videographers up to 40 percent per image or video sold. Many people are making nice supplemental incomes, some are making 5-6 figure salaries.

    Best,

1.5 cents a forum post? Come on, a hundred posts would get u a dollar 50 - seriously low income to time invested.

Ok if you are a forum posting junkie with time and money on your hands already fair enough, it is better than nothing.

But if you wanna earn decent money online this is way too time consuming - but fun :).

    SOME FACTS:

    Get Paid to Myspace?
    Social Networking with a Twist!

Myspace makes on avg. $20 million a month from advertisers.

Do you see the full page ads on the login page?
How about banners on the top of profiles?
    Google Search Bar?
What about ads to the left and right of messages?

Yuwie is a social network similar to Myspace except
they take most of the income brought in from
advertisers, and give it back to the users
just for socializing and inviting friends.

    Get paid every time you…

    • Send messages to your friends
    • Post blogs
    • Upload photos
    • Upload videos
    • Have someone view your profile

You also get paid on your friends’ activity
up to ten levels or generations

    So if you invite 3 friends and they invites 3 friends, in which they invite 3 friends up to 10 levels or generations you get paid on your friends activity as well;
    which is really AMAZING!

If you use Yuwie like you do your current social network; this can be a recurring monthly income for years to come.

Korry Rogers is the founder of Yuwie and lives in Oklahoma.

He also owns and operates five other websites...

Yuwie began operations in July 2007.

Yuwie is the 1st social network that pays it's users.

Yuwie is the ONLY social network
that has their own Radio Show which I help out with!

Yuwie is free to sign up and free to use FOREVER

You can place html codes on Yuwie
just like you do on Myspace!

IT'S FREE TO USE AND YOU CAN MAKE MONEY
FROM IT SO WHY NOT JOIN?

I have been a member of Yuwie since October...

THE TRUTH is Yuwie really does pay it's users just to socialize & invite friends

Myspace does currently have better content then Yuwie but Korry plans on adding features like what facebook has with Google Applications & Games.

    Don't pass this up!

    Yuwie currently has 549,457 users
& is averaging 2,000 + NEW members each day!

It is possible to make thousands a month in years to come but ONLY if you join NOW

Check out my profile and if you like what you see click the sign up button at the top of the page!

I have to use a different url redirect since
    myspace blocks yuwie links

THAT SHOULD TELL YOU SOMETHING could
    myspace really be afraid?

Link to intro videos about Yuwie: http://lopurl. com/13m85

Link to my profile on Yuwie: http://lopurl. com/9822d

    My user ID is: champion0471

If you still don't believe the hype go to google search
and type in Yuwie. You will get millions of results....

Let me know once you join and I'll help you get started
and answer any questions that you might have

    Set up a profile!
    Invite some Friends!
& Watch the Power of Yuwie!
