Zooomr supports bulk uploading via jUploader, just like Flickr. Bulk uploading is disabled during the transition, but will return shortly.

Zooomr had an available API in MkII, and it will have one again w/ MkIII, once the transition has settled down.

Great review, I use both Zooomr and Flickr extensively, and for the most part, I agree. One glaring error I see is the favorable comparison of Zooomr's Zipline to Flickr's Contacts page. That is preposterous - Zipline is MUCH better than the Contacts page. Zipline is like Contacts, Recent Activity, and a few other things Flickr is lacking, all mashed together. I love flickr, but give Zooomr props for some cool innovations. Besides Zipline, one that is not mentioned anywhere (understandably, as is it not touted prominently on Zooomr) is the ability to incorporate a Vimeo video next to any photo in your photostream Several users have already done this, either explaining the setup behind the shot or creating a slideshow of shots set to music.

Flickr rules now, by userbase alone if nothing else, but they had better not sleep on Zooomr and Kris Tate. With such unique features as Zipline, Vimeo integration, the upcoming Marketplace, and others, Zooomr is not just not going away, it is aiming squarely for Flickr's spot at #1.

The Zipline feature might have been cooler for me if I had some friends on Zooomr :) I don't quite get the point of the status updates though - it's great on a general social network like Facebook, but it seems to me like Zooomr should focus more on perfecting the photo solution before branching out.

True, Flickr is more reliable in some ways due to the fact that Yahoo! sponsors it, and it has been on the market for quite awhile, but Zooomr is quickly growing a fan base. People are chatting it up in the live stream chatroom, and compairing cameras, settings, and tips while also sharing other things, like favorite songs and which is better, Coke or Pepsi. In addition, if something breaks, Kris typically is right there, ready to go fix it, or on his way to go fix it. You cannot always say that about Yahoo! sponsored services.

Word is also floating around that Walgreens.com might approach Zooomr for online photo printing, so don't leave them too far behind in that category.

great post. i can't wait to play around with zooomr, i love the fact that people will be able to sell their work.

flickr is totally missing the boat on that. not only that but who will buy zooomr?

Zooomr just tries to be better than flickr, but it should try to be a better photo-community....
