I think it looks sharp. I'm not confused, lost, or angered ;) No I think it was a great change and will only be a good thing!

Now the embeds also have "Search" Bar in them!

This is really a nice and highly awaited feature. Finally youtube has made it. I like that still the quality of the video is not gone down. Thumbs up to this upgrade as well as this post.

Its a good move yes. But in some cases.

When you upload a 4:3 video. It looks... to be frank, Shit.

    They should either.

    1. Make it optional
    2. Make it detect, 4:3 or 16:9 on upload.

All the money in the world and they cant do that ?

I remember when they were first beta testing their new video player (the one having square corners versus the old-style rounded player) to selected people in the spring that the player on YouTube.com itself WOULD detect 4:3 videos from 16:9 videos and ADJUST the player size to match the aspect ratio. It worked relatively well for me, but it must've been too buggy for YouTube and after several weeks they seemed to do away with it... I would not doubt that they're still working on this...

Still, I applaud YouTube for their latest moves these past few days.

Its nice but should be optional

The change to 16:9 is totally OK for me.
BUT that search baron the embedded videos is a joke.

Before reading the news that google added this search bar at the top I was trying to figure out what I did wrong or what code I changed on my own site that makes the videos appear that ugly all of a sudden.

I never imagined this is actually supposed to look like it does! This has to change: make it at least more narrow google.

Nice move for youtube. However, the embedded chromeless flash player and API still in stoneage flash 8 - bad for developers. Don't know if they see the faithful embedding is a conflict business objective, as unlike 2005/2006, when embedding helped them to take off from myspace.

Like the new widescreen, do NOT like the big search bar thing at the top. Just a company taking advantage of people imbedding stuff to loudly advertise themselves.

I must be missing something because I have absolutely no problem with the new aspect ratio on YouTube. The player screen, while physically larger, also feels more spacious and less cluttered. Videos have more room to breath. Thank you YouTube!

LOVE the 3rd criticism of the Neanderthals that you quoted. LOL! :-)

For a while it will look weird with all that black space, but people will start uploading videos in the new resolution and then it will be nice. It does use up more Internet bandwidth, though, doesn't it?

Where is the comment section now I can't interact with the people who posted the video or song, And if it is a song I like I now have no way of finding it for purchase. The new lay out is horrible I was excited about the bigger screen but now everything else is gone the related video section is gone too. You Tube was great when it first came out but since google purchased it, it suck major

Yes, about time to at least support 16x9, which makes everything look better IMHO! Forget those compainers they are just resistant to change no matter what it is. Go youtube!
