As much as people like to bash Microsoft, no one can deny the fact that they are the kings of catching up. They may be behind in some things now, but they will either innovate something new, or buy someone that already has. They are a hell of a lot smarter than all the bloggers give them credit for. They pay people that are a lot smarter than most of todays bloggers to figure out where technology is going. And just because you think they don't know what they're doing, doesn't mean you know more than these high priced consultants. Microsoft is here to stay, they may lag behind every now and then, but you can thank them for everything 'Internet' or 'computer' that we have today. They might not have created it, but they certainly pushed everyone else to keep up. Even if they aren't the leaders in innovation, they certainly are responsible for making sure innovation keeps going.

One of the main issues I've ever had with Microsoft stuff is that it tends to feel bloated and slow. While they have some incredibly brilliant developers and strategists, it feels like they are always catering to those types of people and not the masses who actually use their software.
